The worm might finally be turning.

Last weekend in London and Bristol large protest marches about the Cost of Living took place. As the fear of covid subsides and the better weather arrives I expect more and more of these events to happen. For the past three years people have been very much kettled inside their own homes as covid rampaged through the country.

The anger of the people was unable to find expression due to lockdown regulations and fear. We know infection rates are higher than ever and the number of people dying is high. The media, of course doing the establishment’s bidding are not publishing numbers or stories about the ongoing covid carnage. The biggest fault in our media is not their lies, it is what they don’t tell you so that they protect the establishment, not you, that is their biggest crime!

It also has to be admitted that the public has reached their limit on restrictions. Instead of using this time of relative quiet to repair the damage caused to the economy by Brexit and Covid, the Tories did what Tories do and used the time to steal from the public purse to enrich themselves and their mates!

£37 billion for a Track and Trace system that never worked. It is hard to get any real accountability or detail from anyone on where and how exactly did the government manage to spend this amount of our tax money in under two years on something that never worked. Something doesn’t add up. It was estimated that here have been 93M tests done. £37Bn equates to £400 per test. Track and Trace allegedly employed around 20,000 staff. This equates to £1.85M per staff member. These numbers make no sense. What was the £37Bn spent on? I don’t expect we will ever know nor will anyone ever be held to account for this massive expenditure. The establishment think the British public have moved on and forgotten all about this government larceny.

The cynic in me suggests that huge amounts of this money will have found its way into the many UK offshore foreign bank accounts never to be seen or heard of again. In total the expenditure on Covid related issues is into £ Trillions. This is just one excerpt from an excellent article on the topic by Douglas Fraser of BBC Scotland in March this year.

The National Audit Office (NAO) makes a different calculation that runs to £368bn in total, at least £259bn of it spent by last September.

For the biggest estimate, the International Monetary Fund comes in at £407bn by last September, in direct spending and in taxes and duties that the government did not collect.

In fairness some of this covers vaccine costs and furlough costs. However, as whenever UK Tories and UK Governments get involved lots of Tory people are getting lots of the tax payers money. It is never those that need it most of course. They get the bill. They never get the benefit!

We know that Matt Hancock, Michael Gove and Dominic Cummings were all named in English courts as having acted illegally on awarding covid contracts to ‘friends.’ No action or retribution ensued. None ever will, that is just the reality when you live in a feudal corrupt union!

We have also had Wallpapergate, Partygate, jobs for Boris’ mistresses, Rwanda, Prince Andrew and the teenager. While people queue at Foodbanks we had the obscenity of The Royal Crown being transported via a Rolls Royce from Buckingham Palace to the Houses of Parliament (May 10.) It was being delivered to Westminster for the Opening of Parliament speech, due to the Queen missing out because of mobility issues. If only the state took as much trouble over our granny’s mobility issues, eh?

We have watched as the MPs gave themselves an inflation busting pay rise while denying public sector workers any pay rises instead in effect they were given pay cuts. The same with pensioners and those on Universal credit. There is never enough money to pay a decent pension or a living wage. We do however have enough money to send weapons to Ukraine to help the USA fight its proxy war with Russia. There is,of course, never enough money to fight the poverty war in the UK!

Until now the British Establishment has believed it has managed to get away unscathed. They think they have the people docile enough with bread and circuses to continue on robbing them blind. This is why last weekends marches will have caused some concern to the posh British Establishment thieves in the English shires.

Now that the RMT have entered the fray, alarm bells will be going off all over the place. The biggest fear is if the RMT succeed in getting a decent settlement for their members the rest of the proletariat will be demanding equally fair and just settlements of their pay claims!

That just cannot be tolerated. The more money that goes towards fairness and equality means less money for the establishment to steal for themselves. Only the poor is supposed to pay taxes or suffer cuts to their income, never the elite!

Nothing will be spared in the attempts to defeat the RMT. The smearing and denouncing of Mick Lynch have only just begun. They will try to find anything in his past or present to discredit him and then link that to the strike. It won’t matter if it is true or false. He must be taken down. They have already had their opening shot when Arthur Scargill was spotted on an RMT picket line. They made Arthur a pariah during the miner’s strike and they hope any association with him will damage the RMT cause and Mick Lynch. They are so transparent and so scummy!

If only our media put as much effort into attacking corporate greed, tax avoidance, boardroom pay and politicians sleaze!

Of course, the biggest fear for the establishment is this, if the RMT get a decent settlement, other workers that are lining up behind the RMT will be wanting the exact same, fairness. That would be a catastrophe for the establishment. The more money that goes towards fairness for their members.  Decent wages and conditions for the lower paid and poor means less money for the rich to steal and put offshore! That is the reality of the British Union.

The Brexit, covid mishandling government induced cost of living crisis needs addressed. The workers and poor are beginning to flex their muscles and say Enough! Demands for huge pay settlements are going to start appearing from all sectors. The establishment will do what they always do and try to tell us that the country cannot afford to pay decent wages to the lower paid. The country cannot afford to pay decent pensions or decent sick pay or decent unemployment pay.

It can always find money to pay politicians, refurbish royal palaces, bail out corporate business, buy weapons of mass destruction. There is always enough money for the rich to get tax cuts. Money is not an issue when it comes to vanity projects of the establishment like HS2 that also doubles as a transfer of the nations wealth from poor to rich! Lots to steal.

This time though I get the feeling, the British public are at a tipping point. You can just feel something is stirring at home just as things are stirring in the outside world. The recognised world order is beginning to shift. I also believe the order of things in the British union is begining to shift. The days of neoliberalism I believe is on its last legs. As usual greed will be the downfall of the shysters and spivs! No more of the let them eat cake!

Before this summer is out I truly believe the UK proletariat will erupt into open rebellion. Hunger and despair will spill on to the streets of the entire union. I have no idea what the trigger will be it could be various factors. What I do know is when the establishment is threatened they always show their teeth. Ask the miners if you don’t believe me! This time though I believe the vast majority of people are at the point of no return.

In Northern Ireland the governments handling of Brexit have the six occupied counties on the verge of reunification with the rest of Ireland. The breaking of the Brexit Treaty and Protocol puts the GFA in danger. This could well be the breaking point.

Scotland too is beginning to stir with independence fervour again. The ALBA Party, SSRG, SALVO have all it seems been instrumental in poking the SNP into some action at last. The SNP too might think paying a little lip service to independence movement will as usual work on the Scottish voters. I think just like English Establishment the SNP have seriously underestimated the depth of feeling in Scotland. This time the people will not accept being marched down the hill again.

To both the governments in London and Edinburgh I would say, ‘You can fool some of the people some of the time……

  • Indeed Roddy
I was listening to two people who used to work in the financial sector in London. One of them has written a book titled Shredded. He estimates that £190 billion goes else where every year. I just think the UK/ Scotland is a criminal paradise.

  • The complete truth without frills – something which is difficult to find within the common press. MUST be circulated throughout Scotland.
Big thanks to the Barrhead Boy.

  • Well said, Roddy. I’d bet all those working-class people who were conned into voting for Brexit are having their peepers opened as we speak. Nothing, but nothing, in this UK is done with the people in mind: everything is done is such a way that the robber barons – and we know who they are – take it all. The best gift we could give the English people is to leave the Union and let the whole rotten edifice fall. They will realize, soon after we leave, the lies and half-truths they have been told for so long. The UK – that is, England – is a basket case and is that way because it will not change, but believes that everyone else is in the wrong. This is down almost totally to the elites that run the show and lead the people by the nose. I agree, Roddy, that people really have had enough in all kinds of ways and something is simmering below the surface that the braindead who rule us, both in Scotland and in the UK, simply cannot conceive of happening – but it will. They have pushed us too far. They need not try out their Thatcherite script again because we are not listening this time, and we won’t be forced.

  • Dido Harding was in charge of Track & Trace, wasn’t she? See Eyes passim, as they say.

The man who can close the offshore/tax loopholes won’t, because his wife (amongst others) benefits hugely from them.

    • “we won’t be forced”. I do hope you’re right, Lorna. I really do. But what about being coerced? Like with Covid vaccines and resulting mandates.
It is suggested that approximately 30% of the population accepted the government’s and so-called health experts’ advice and dutifully, complied. Another 45% had doubts, or were unsure, or feared losing their jobs, but still ended up complying. The remaining 25% didn’t believe a word of it. Those of the 25 % that spoke out were branded as conspiracy theorists.
I’m not sure how this will play out, but at least the Elite 1% are in plain sight and their associated intentions. It may very well fall to the 45% to grow a pair. For this is not a battle, folks. It is a war for all humanity!
It’s at times like these, I wish I was French. For they had the good sense to store La Guillotine in a Paris suburb for the last 50 years. Just incase…….

  • “You can fool some of the people all of the time. You can fool all of the people some of the time. But you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” Fixed it for you.

  • ” Summer’s here and the time is right for …….? ….. in the streets “.

I’d rather be dancing , but , we can do that when we’ve finished fighting . For a radical overhaul of , well , everything .

I agree , there’s a palpable sense that people have had enough and may be ready – finally- to forcefully express their anger and disgust at the contemptuous treatment they receive from what has to be the worse political generation ever . Never has Government arrogance/incompetence been more blatantly displayed : or it’s flip-side ie Opposition so spinelessly complacent/complicit , offering little to no meaningful alternative .

Those recently brought-in Laws re the * controlling * of mass demonstrations couldn’t have come at a more opportune time from the POV of our * Rulers * eh ? It’s almost as if they foreseen the need for them . 🙂

Better ” Call out the Instigator – I do believe – there’s Something In The Air ” .

Let’s hope it’s something that will transform our specific situation .

  • Abuse is abuse.

What is the difference between Prince Andrew, Sir Jimmy Saville OBE and the U.K. ruling elite.

Absolutely none. It’s the British way and this article explains how extensive it is. And Brexit has just made it more apparent.

  • Just listening to an interview on TV this morning with Prime Minster Johnson who is in Rwanda.

Asked about the double whammy by election defeats last night our man incredibly was punting the view that the government had protected people well and the the defeats were but symptomatic of the mid term by election syndrome where sitting governments take a hit. With the Sky reporter giving him absolutely no challenge Johnson’s comments were left to stick to the wall.

So folks there you have it. The Tories have looked after you. So jog on. Enjoy your protections from the benevolent Tory government.

Meanwhile in another interview on Sky with Kier Starmer on his by election success the reporter gave him a relentless hard time undermining the success of his candidate as a mid term blues.

And in another Sky interview with Ed Davey on the huge Liberal Democrat Kay Burley gave Davey a rough ride. Nit picked him him on his comment that it was biggest by election defeat ever to say that it was only the biggest defeat ever against the Tories. Then after trying to throw him off his stride attacked him on the win being a protest vote. Then thereafter she understated the number of Liberal MP which after he spotted, she then said good on you for noticing, yes you are correct.

Two three interviews. Two hostile against the by election winners and one a soft ride for the Tory prime minister.

Anyway, for us in Scotland it doesn’t matter because our votes don’t count.

  • The truth of the matter is that the unionist media is making a big deal of the Tories losing a few seat, we’ve had Starmer and Davey say this is a new dawn as they claim that the people have risen up and will vote Johnson and his party out, I say so what.

It doesn’t matter which party gets into number ten whether its the Lib/Dems or Labour or the Tories again, Scotland won’t benefit, and Scottish independence is a non starter to begin with.
