In 11 months, Scotland will hold what many are calling the most crucial election for Holyrood. As opinion polls increasingly show growing support for independence, there is mounting concern in London. What has so far calmed the British nerves is the lack of serious political action from the SNP, Scotland’s alleged leading independence party.
Despite the rising demand for independence, the SNP has failed to capitalise on this momentum. Just last week, Angus Robertson MSP dismissed the idea of a pro-independence convention to coordinate action, effectively downplaying the movement’s urgency. Now, however, the backlash is beginning to surface.
This week, First Minister John Swinney, speaking at the ‘UK 2050’ forum, mentioned that independence is within reach—a vague statement lacking concrete plans, timelines, or a clear route to independence. For over a decade, such empty rhetoric has been used to secure continued SNP power, without any real strategy.
Amid this stagnation, hope emerges with a new pro-independence alliance: Liberate Scotland. This coalition of parties—Indy4Indy, ISP, and Sovereignty—has united to offer a concrete alternative. Unlike the SNP, which offers only promises, Liberate Scotland presents a clear proposition: a vote for them is a vote for independence—nothing else.
The leaders of this coalition—Eva Comrie (Indy4Indy), Colette Walker (ISP), and David McHutchon (Sovereignty)—emphasise that their primary goal is independence, not political careers. They are standing to free Scotland from the British Union, with no aspirations beyond that.
They also extend an open invitation to other pro-independence supporters who share this commitment. Their message is clear: with collective effort from everyday Scots—”the little folk”—independence is achievable. Without widespread participation, however, the mission will fail.
To aid this effort, they introduce The Campaigner App—an innovative canvassing tool designed to level the playing field against larger parties and traditional media. Success depends on boots on the ground, and they call on all patriots to join the fight.
This is a pivotal moment for Scotland’s future. Together, with determination and unity, independence can become a reality.
I truly believe this podcast can be a watershed moment in Scottish political history. Watch and sharewith others please. We need as many Scots as possible to hear the words and plans of these three Scottish patriots.
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
No mention of Alba, then. Surely we’re looking for ALL INDY INTERESTS to unite and compete for EVERY constituency and LIST vote
Alba were invited to join the coalition right at the start, they declined to participate.
Alba declined.
They prefer to be SNPs No. 2.
Freeports and all that.
If We Want Not To Be Treated Akin To A Colony , We Should Stop Acting Like A Colony And Take Our Independence NOW !!!
Hi, failed to make it live but have got 50% through and it is heartening to hear. I’m a SNP member and get all the s#it thrown at me for having the nerve to say anything about the leadership failures. I hit up Stephen Flynn my MP twice about why did the SNP ignore the Stirling Directive and no answer there too so he’s in with the cosy group taking money on the back of doing nothing. Who will be standing for Aberdeen if any? I’m 74 so not as able any more like in 2014 when I went door stepping canvasing but I will help in any way.
It is good to see the grassroots taking action after sixteen years in the SNP. , I left in frustration at the lack of commitment to independence. I think with this momentum it will only gain traction, we, the ordinary rank and file, cannot wait any longer we have to bypass the dead wood in Holyrood for the next generation to come and the one after that
The reality is and I’ve constantly been saying it for years, that the democracy deniers are the SNP and Scottish government not Westminster.
The decision the SNP has made, sorry John Swinney has made about Scotland in the Union above and beyond 20250 is the clearest message yet and that the SNP has decided it’s more important to safe the Union than achieve Independence.
At the next Holyrood election, the Indy movement should be saying that the SNP has decided to sacrifice Independence to safe the Union these aren’t the actions of a nationalist party.
John Swinney deliberately sacrificed the 38 Westminster MP’s by not providing the plebiscite the party and Scottish government had stood on for years and have promising Independence as if it’s something we would be grateful for, only for it to be denied again with the same old rhetoric.
Swinney’s at it again, as I believe he’s going to deliberately make the SNP lose next year’s election and then he’ll retire leaving us with another plant who’ll take us into 2030 with more false promises.
Let’s remember Swinney has done his time as a politician so he’s not bothered. What we do know is he isn’t working for the SNP or the Scottish government his time as leader was to saving the Union at the behest of the UKG and he isn’t bothered about betraying Scotland or its people, and like Sturgeon he’s happy for us to know it.
Its simple we can either fight for Scotland next year by destroying the SNP or we can allow Scotland to be destroyed by the SNP, it’s that simple. The question is who’s side are you on?
The SNP leadership is being clear its the Union before Independence and its England before Scotland, so stop trying to unify Indy movement with the SNP it isn’t there.
I’ve just read Peter Bell’s Manifesto For Independence and it seems excellent. It is something that Liberate Scotland people have signed up to?
No, nor will we
Why not? I think it covers most points that I would want to see.
I think perhaps you should read it again. Then come and tell us how it works without the Scottish voters endorsing it at the ballot box.Nr Bell’s plan doesn’t believe in elections How then can it could possibly get international recognition? When you figure it out let us know
Thanks for making that clear Roddy.
Mr. Bell’s manifesto ensures that the elected Scottish parliament plays a crucial role in achieving independence. It makes it quite clear that dissolution of the Union would require both approval by the Scottish parliament and ratification by the people of Scotland in a confirmatory referendum, thereby endorsing it at the ballot box. That seems sensible to me and quite possibly the only way of achieving international recognition – other countries won’t recognise Scotland’s independence unless they are satisfied that a majority of Scots want it.
How does Liberate plan to show that dissolution of the union is endorsed by the Scottish people?
If he is not going to contest any election because he refuses to recognise the parliaments how can this manifesto get approved by the people? His party has one member himself so do tell me how that works?
Firstly, thank you for taking the trouble to read the Manifesto for Independence. Would that others did so before commenting. Your comment and subsequent responses were brought to my attention by someone concerned about the misinformation being spread about the Manifesto for Independence and the #ScottishUDI plan. Whether this is being done purposefull for malicious reasons or out of proud ignorance, I don’t know. It is not possible to tell because the result is identical in both cases.
The ideal of democracy is that voters should make informed decisions. Those who promulgate falsehoods are enemies of democracy and should be recognised as such. Roddy’s replies to you are, to be generous, misleading. He implies that the #ScottishUDI is undemocratic. He says, for example:
“… tell us how it works without the Scottish voters endorsing it at the ballot box.”
As you will be aware having actually read the Manifesto for Independence and supporting information, the process described involves no fewer than three democratic votes. Firstly there is the election in 2026 of a pro-independence Scottish Parliament with a majority of MSPs having been elected on the basis of personal or party manifestos which include the Manifesto for independence.
Secondly, there is the plebiscite part of that election which is made possible by the introduction of a binary element. This is achieved by having all the pro-independence parties stand on election manifestos which incorporate the Manifesto for Independence. This means that every vote any pro-independence party can be unarguably counted as a vote for the same commitment on the constitutional issue. As a bonus, it also removes party politics from the constitutional issue. It achieves unity of purpose without any need for the parties to come together under a single umbrella group. Which, of course, was never going to happen.
The combined election/plebiscite provides a mandate for the Scottish Parliament to assert legislative competence in matters relating to the constitution for the immediate purpose of enabling the exercise by the people of Scotland of our right of self-determination – there being no other way we can do so.
The third and arguably most important vote is the confirmatory referendum on an Act of the Scottish Parliament effectively dissolving the Union and establishing a democratic republic of Scotland. The Act itself will take the form of a proposal tabled by the Scottish Government which includes details of how the confirmatory referendum will work and a provisional constitution. Voters will thus know exactly what they are voting for – or against.
Anyone who says this process is undemocratic is a liar or a fool or both.
Utter poppycock is the nicest way I can put it. No Party is going to adopt your manifesto for independence. Therefore, it cannot be endorsed by the people that was my point exactly!
You are a one member Ltd Co Party with no intention of contesting an election and putting your super duper can’t be beaten by anything MFI to the people.
I find this strange when you profess that you have looked at all other avenues and nothing will work except your great plan, and yet you are not confident enough to grow your party and let the people decide. You just prefer staying solo and bloviating at everyone else telling them how wrong they are about everything because they wont listen to your haverings.
Put your money where your mouth is and put your grandiose idea to the people.
That is exactly what Liberate Scotland is doing. They are going to the people with a manifesto and asking the sovereign people of Scotland to decide. You want others to do the work for you. Like so many in the movement All talk and no action!
@Barrheadboy – You said, and I quote you:
“Then come and tell us how it works without the Scottish voters endorsing it at the ballot box.Nr Bell’s plan doesn’t believe in elections”
and then:
“because he refuses to recognise the parliaments”
which is indeed a total misrepresentation of his Manifesto for Independence,. Why not just back off, and admit you were mistaken, before then giving your opinion on what he actually did say?
I do not go to Mr Bells site or on social media and decry his MFI however when I am asked on my site or on my social media feed by some of his few followers why I will niot support his MFI. I respond. No Party is going to adopt his initiative attacking me or my refusal is not going to change that. I am not wrong in this, my point stands if his one member party is not going to the voters with his MFI why should anyone else promote it? If it is so brilliant why wouldn’t he take it to the voters? I personally think it is confusing drivel.Nobody is stopping him promoting it,just funny perhaps no serious players give it a second glance.
Do you not read anything? I’ve just explained, in language accessible by most schoolchildren, how there are thre democratic votes in the #ScottishUDI process.
I don’t ask you to support this initiative. I cerrtainly don’t seek your endorsement. I merely ask that you refrain from commenting from a position of perfect ignorance and demented prejudice.
WI would ask the same of you on Liberate Scotland.
Quite sad you have to troll other sites to get some hits.
I will leave your twenty readers to enjoy your latest self-indulgent verbosity.
I will pass I have work to do trying to actually get us independence votes not just talk about independence. I will leave you to social media and your tiny band of followers.
Spoken like a true bigot.
Now the personal attacks.OK
You are an overblown pompous ass!
As the women in Brechin said to you Peter, ” you talk shite!”
You seem very obsessed with size, son. Hmmm . . .
Maybe you and James Kelly could form an alliance you both seem obsessed with attacking real independence folk more than you ever attack unionists.
Two huge egos who have ideas way above your actual abilty. You could call it The Dunning-Kruger Collective!
