FROM NOON SUNDAY
This week’s podcast concentrates on the General Election campaign. The panel of Phil Boswell, Eva Comrie and Lloyd Quinan join me to give their opinions on the weeks talking points. Our opening question is simple has there ever been a more low key, boring UKGE?
It seems that with the exception of the English Labour Party nobody really wants this election. Worse still the public just refuse to become engaged. While the politicians and their corrupt media try to convince us that this is a vital global event of democracy, The Apathy Party are ahead by 20+ points in the polls.
The panel agrees on one thing especially. This election is likely to be one of the lowest turnouts ever for an Anglo/British General Election! The word on the streets is that Mr & Mrs Joe Soap have lost faith in all the political parties and their empty shirts.
That Stephen Flynn in an ITV interview, let the cat out of the SNP bag they are back to begging for a Section 30 ‘Gold Standard Referendum’ route. Only Sir Keir Starmer changes policy oftener than the SNP.
When this podcast goes live we could have a new ‘independence policy’ it all depends which journalist from which organisation asks which SNP trougher the indy question!
Meanwhile, Honest John ‘Spinney’ Swinney (TM.Phil Boswell) tells us that the Tories proposing to confirm biological Sex is the correct definition in the Equality Act John Spinney sees this as an attack on Devolution!
Spinney Swinney seems to forget that that sole purpose of the SNP is meant to be Independence, not defending devolution. It is this amnesia that has his party struggling in the polls and why on July 4th so many Independence supporters will be at home cutting their grass or watching television and not voting at all.
Alyn Smith on a BBC Debate from Oban told the audience that the SNP want to work with a future British Labour Government. Why would any genuine Scottish independence supporter look forward to working with any British Government unless it is to negotiate the act of secession from the union?
Could it be that the SNP hope that an incoming Labour Government will lift the Section 35 from the SNP raison d’etre GRRB? The panel discusses this in depth.
With Police Scotland flying the Pride Flag from their HQ we ask should our police be supporting any political campaign especially one as corrosive and divisive as Trans rights?
Finally, we discuss the news that cane out this week that 180 of our 650 MPs are being funded by Pro-Israeli lobbyists and we ask should foreign nations be allowed to buy our politicians so easily?
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
Woŵ some big discussions.
Meanwhile on the voting front in many Scottish constituencies, in fact 30 plus with no true independistas standing the option is stay at home or write #endtheunion across the ballot paper.
I am still undecided on which.
Yes, Ian, it’s a great pity that the smaller parties have so few candidates, but the SNP itself was once in that position. That they have spurned unity is their death knell, I think. Everyone is keeping their powder dry for 2026 and the SE, I believe. I hope so, anyway, and I think big change, revelations and actions – all legal and above board – will be taking place before then that are going to set the heather on fire.
Roddy … this is a follow up post to those you allowed on the mid-week Prism.
Post reads:
The Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative is seeking any candidate(s) who will take an alternative Oath – a Scottish Oath – before the 4th of July. In my last post I used a fictional William Wallace, but lets ask a question: Were he live today, would the actual William Wallace be asking you for your vote, so that he could spend the next five years on an all expenses stay in the House of Commons, on a salary of over £90,000?
In that earlier post, I used an example of a “firebrand” candidate. Let me offer an alternative example (one of many – it depends on the candidate, their constituemcy, and their hopes of success in the election.) In this example, it is a candidate who already suspects they will not win in 2024, but want to establish themselves and become far better known for the Scottish election in 2026. Would they swear a Scottish Oath?
I repeat: The Declaration initiative is seeking any candidate(s) who will take an alternative Oath – a Scottish Oath – before the 4th of July.
This is the Oath – a Scottish Oath:
‘By this Oath, I declare that if elected as a Member of the United Kingdom Parliament, it will be as a result of votes cast solely by Sovereign Scots, and therefore I do solemnly swear and affirm that my allegiance is, and will remain permanently and exclusively, to the Sovereign people of Scotland.’
Turned on the Prism but switched it off again due to Phil Boswell’s foul language. Doesn’t work for me.
Well, we all have our standards, Joan, and you are entitled to yours, but Phil is a valuable contributor who says it like it is. In fact, all the guests do. That is why I listen every week. A bit of bad language is just a bit of bad language. If you can’t abide it, just skip past (if on download) or do something else for a minute or two. Don’t let something like that put you off listening. Phil gets angry at times, as we all do.
Joan , FGS , lunatics are striving to bring humanity to oblivion , we in Scotland ( as elsewhere ) are infested by pea-brained , utterly dishonest & useless politicians , our institutions – Police , NHS , Education , Law etc – have been infiltrated/captured by psychologically unhinged , deeply destructive zealots , our costs of living have went through the roof while those elected to protect us whine impotently from the security of their own generous , public-funded salaries : and you’re upset by strongly felt emotion expressed in the demotic . Have a word with yourself .
If only more political commentators felt as strongly as Phil about the obscenity of what’s going on – domestically & globally – and had no qualms about expressing themselves as forcefully as Phil , we might start finding a way out of the morass .
Great Prism again, folks.
The D-Day Landings anniversary makes me think that we should reset to the UK/Britain we had in the late 1940s, into the early 70s, when aspiration was sky-high. When we achieve our independence, this is what we need to do for Scotland. A time when spending for the public good was not anathema; a time when people treated each other with greater kindness than we see today; a time when community was valued and individualism did not mean looking after numero uno at the expense of everyone else. God knows, it wasn’t perfect, but the nihilism of the present should make everyone’s spine shudder.
I, too, would get rid of lobbying groups. They buy what they want from our political representatives, and too many of those so-called representatives of the people are out for number one. I would also put an end to ‘party donations’ or individual ‘donations’ because these, too, are simply inducements and bribes.
The ‘trans’ ordure is sold to the people as a mark of respect and kindness for others. Everyone is entitled to their civil and human rights, but the police are now utterly partisan. Basically, they are saying to all women and girls: we are not here for you, only for the ‘trans’. Our so-called government is behaving in exactly the same way. They are both either encouraging hatred of our sex or treating it as an inferior sub species of humanity, but what they are certainly doing is encouraging men with very perverted sexual tastes to rule the social roost.
I think, in the longer term, females are going to opt out of mainstream politics and set up their own parties and political movements, eschewing most of the present institutions and organizations as anti female – which, indeed, they have become in the space of ten years, or less. Yes, human beings are worthy of respect if they reciprocate, but not if they try to deny others their basic civil and human rights.
The frontline ‘trans’ movement is a men’s rights movement, a men’s sexual rights movement, queer theory and post modernism all rolled into one. It is the people behind this stuff that our government should be looking into, but they don’t have to, because these are some of the very people who are financing them or pretending to finance British/Scottish ‘enterprise’, hoping to hive off our NHS and other national and regional assets, and our politicians are well aware of that situation.
We need to move away from all kinds of ‘grievance’ politics and go back to everyone earning respect and rights, not having them bestowed on them at the expense of others. To segue into a different, but related topic, the Norwegians stood their ground against massive American pressure to seek their oil and gas at bargain basement prices. They had smeddum, a back bone. Us? Our governments – all of them – have sold our birthright and heritage for a mess of pottage. One Americanism (Lincoln) that does not jar is the one that says: you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time. Every Unionist party and the SNP should heed those words because the people are, one of these fine days, going to prove its veracity.
Instead oh getting all twee about the odd swear word from a committed nationalist how about your good self Joan taking umbrage at Sunak again saying that a year’s national service is on the cards for every eighteen year old boy or girl from next year and that any who refuse will have their bank accounts closed and their driving licences taken off them.
Or is that less important than the odd swear word.
Sorry if this maybe offends you. But for me Prism is an excellent programme.
( Message to Phil. Can you stay meek and mild and express no indignation – it’s turning Joan off Indy)
