On the sixth anniversary of the Independence referendum Sir Keir Starmer leader of the Worker’s Party deigned to visit the Scottish colony. Unlike his predecessor Corbyn it is unlikely Starmer travelled in second class alongside any of the proletariat. The imperial leaders of the English Political Parties believe in the day trip governance of the Scottish colony. First shuttle up a round of very carefully selected locations avoiding the general public, a few soft interviews and back to Mother England in time for afternoon tea.
The Knight’s visit took on the usual pattern. When he was talking to the media, he said in his most condescending London manner that we Scots didn’t want another divisive Independence referendum. We don’t? Yet every time this actual question has been asked at the polls the majority have said they do want another referendum. However like all our imperial masters Sir Keir knows better than the population of Scotland. He went on,’ in the forthcoming Holyrood, we (SLAB) will put forward what we see as the priorities.’ Starmer makes the same crucial mistakes the British Labour Party in Scotland always make. Telling Scots that they don’t want what they say they want and that the priorities the English HQ think, are vital, are what we have to jolly well like and vote Labour. Now what time is my plane to get me out of this shithole would have been the only truthful thing he would have said if probity was on his mind.
After all these years of abject failure, you would think the penny might drop with one of them, alas no they plough that lonely furrow unabated. It just doesn’t cross their imperialistic minds that maybe they should actually listen to what the people are saying for once.
One of the first phrases I ever heard in my selling career was this, ‘You bait the hook with what the fish will eat, not with what you want it to eat.’ It is simple and understandable logic however our British Imperial masters and their House-Jock placemen and women seem incapable of grasping simple concepts. Einstein one of the greatest minds ever produced by mankind summed it up perfectly, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
I just do not for the life of me understand why nobody in the Labour Party has ever pointed out that it is time to listen to the people instead of themselves. Sir Keir has now made his trip for 2020.He won’t come back until the election campaign begins in earnest where once again he will tell us what we don’t want, tell us what we do want and depart back to England in the same day. Post election he or one of his minions will assure us that it was the voters that got it wrong and lessons will be learned. We know they never listen and never learn.
What of their Tory chums? Well, they go for a similar type approach but with more malice. They are not called Conservatives for nothing. Every single social advance for the people the Conservatives have opposed. The Welfare State was/is unaffordable. The NHS would see a brain drain by Doctors and Surgeons who would flee the country. Nowadays it is the we cannot afford not to have health in private hands. They opposed Devolution because it would harm our precious union. In all of these objections, what they have always omitted to say is that the only thing they are not conservative about is making money off of the many to enrich the few.
All of the things mentioned they opposed because it took wealth away from them and redistributed it to the many. Now the Welfare system is teetering on collapse as is the English NHS. They have managed to get social housing all but wiped out, except in the rebellious colony of Scotland. To Tories all housing and land they sit on should be in the hands of the wealthy, not the peasantry.
Devolution they have always fought against. The Etonian Oxbridge mob think that all power should rest solely with them in the Mother of Parliaments. Westminster is, after all, the most exclusive gentleman’s club in London. In the minds of the Oxbridge elite, only they should be allowed to make decisions for the peasantry. It is not natural in their inbred minds that Scots or Welsh colonies should have any meaningful say in the running of the English colonies. Little Englander and Oxbridge Exceptionalism are a very potent mix.
The right in Tory England have now decided that instead of telling the Jockos what is best for them, it is just time for some tough love. Just as they have shown the accursed EU, it is time to bring the recalcitrant Scots to heel. The Irish irritation was sorted by edict and breaking International Law. A Treaty signed a mere few months ago no longer fits in with their plan to enrich themselves in January 2021.Therefore just ignore right, law, decency, honesty and press on regardless. Their exceptionalism makes them believe in their own ability to overcome any obstacle or objection. The Oxbridge crew are the true believers in a ‘master race’ the audacity of those Germans in the 1930s in trying to take over their mantle. Germans, they don’t even have a Cricket team or play rugger!
Even with US Congress stating there will be no trade deal, if they continue down this path the Tories, just dismiss such talk with disdain. They in their idiotic minds truly believe there is a special relationship between Old Blighty and the former colony of America. That when they go to the former colony and explain it all in the Queen’s English the Yanks will fall into line.
This arrogance and detachment from reality should not come as a surprise to anyone in Scotland. We have watched over the past few days and seen the Spitfire plane sent to thank NHS workers for their ‘sacrifices’ during Covid. A huge pay rise and better conditions would have been any normal government’s way of thanking first responders. Not the Oxbridge Exceptionalists, they get all teary eyed at the sound of a Merlin engine. Very few of them were even born during WWII yet this is their holy grail. This war they cling to as the very reason that makes them superior to all other people in the world. This is the very core of their exceptionalism. This is despite the fact that the ‘history’ they have garnered is very much an Anglicised version of the reality of 1939-45. This false belief is what has them thinking that Nancy Pelosi and others in the American Congress and Senate will never take puny Ireland’s side over Mother England. Delusion and ignorance are in the DNA of the Exceptionalists.
The devolved settlements with Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland will also be treated with contempt. That 74% of Scots in 1997 voted for this settlement is of no consequence to London Tories. That for the past 13 years the SNP have won every single election from local to Europe will just be ignored. That every single opinion poll in 2020 shows a huge percentage in favour of Independence is irrelevant. Just like Sir Keir, Boris Johnson and his Tories are only interested in what they want. They too invent narratives to suit their desires. They lie about once in a generation which recently has been getting amended to ‘once in a lifetime.’ They too say ‘Nobody wants another divisive referendum. It was, of course, only divisive to British Unionists because it forced them to face the paucity of the union. Far from finding it divisive independence voters found it to be the most unifying action in their life. Now in the sixth anniversary of the first referendum that unity is still there. A little frayed around the edges but the core is stronger than ever.
London has placed 2,500 UK Civil Servants in Leith. They have done this in full view. They are so confident and full of Oxbridge exceptionalism there was no chance of them doing it any other way. We have all seen it coming. The power grab we have all been warning about will happen in a matter of weeks.
Using the Oxbridge type analogy, this is Scotland’s 1940. The fascists are amassing on our border ready to steal our way of life, our parliament, our democracy. What is our plan? How are we to defend ourselves against this threat? The famous SNP plan many keep telling us about when will it be deployed? The only plan I have seen or heard of is the one supplied by ISP. I would amend that slightly to this. Clear the legislative decks, drop everything else bring forward the plans for the Referendum/Plebiscite Bill, start the campaign and the discussion about our nation’s future now. Turn Holyrood May 2021 into a Plebiscite Election. Win the election with 50%+ of the vote and hopefully a 70%+ pro Indy Parliament and begin the independence negotiations.
From SNP thus far all we have heard is the gnashing of teeth, the now famous ‘The Scottish people will not allow…’ Nicola Sturgeon at Holyrood being rightly enraged at the actions of the Tories with their illegal Internal Markets Bill. Sadly though no action, no call to arms for the SNP and Yes Movement. The Spitfire flying over Scotland this week was a bit of a metaphor. Nicola now is the time for action. The time for angry rhetoric and being cautious is over. Whatever plan you have deploy it now If you don’t have a plan you better come up with one quick. If even that is beyond you then step aside we will find someone that will step up to the plate for Scotland.
Now is the time!
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
We are never ever getting a S30 so it’s now time for plan B what ever that may be…l await our leader acknowledging this fact and withdrawing us from this toxic union…if the internal market bill goes through in a few weeks we have to make a move on or before 31st Dec because if we wait till May we wont have a parliament…

– Disagree here. Thats precisely the message they intended to deliver. With no chance of winning an election, why on earth would they say anything to undermine their view of the UK ? Tell Scots what they think is important because important decisions happen elsewhere, not in Scotland. Worked a treat for them in 2014 unfortunately.
“The Scottish people will not allow…*”
*…but they will have to accept it, because the current SNP leadership will allow it.
The good thing ( silver lining ) about the persecution of Alex Salmond is that it lets you see ( for those who actually look ) into the Scotgov/SNP behind the veil to see the type of people in charge of the SNP at present.
It is about time the membership of the SNP had a right good clearout. Get the Britnats and criminals out of the party and government.
Apologies for the belated comment.
I’m not remotely surprised Starmer was up here, he was up here because he well-knows Scotland’s party is at its weakest, with dissent and mistrust rife among its members, more and more now doubting the leadership and beginning to believe the unpalatable facts. Better informed of SNP events in Scotland than many SNP members, Starmer’s up here at the ‘right’ moment. The mistake he’s making, and where he’s woefully uninformed, is that he believes SNP-dodgy equates to Labour-gains in Scotland. Fine, he’s onto plums.
When many are crying out for the First Minister’s head, can I allow myself a moment of rose-tinted naivety? Is it at all possible that in Jan 2018, Sturgeon, on learning from Salmond about the impending storm, knew right there that a referendum would be impossible for the foreseeable? I’m not promoting this view, I’m merely clutching at the why and the reason a strong and powerful political party can become so easily infiltrated, its leader drawn to the dark? The fullness of time, and the natural order of things, will tell. What I do believe is, that Stuart Campbell knows exactly who’s behind it all and is being advised and informed by the right people – our kind of people.
Whatever; the SNP, ridden with the lice of the british, our nearest referendum is a pipe dream under the current SNP – that is the bottom line – and I say a brand new, uninfiltrated independence party is the way ahead. When Salmond said ‘for a generation’ it seemed like a million years, now it seems like 5 million years and I cannot believe the SNP went so easily from upright and powerful under Salmond to a load of rotten shite under the Murrells.
Enjoying your work, Roddy.
