FROM NOON SUNDAY.
This week’s Through A Scottish Prism is centred around the events at Westminster where Neale Hanvey, MP, introduced his early day motion, Scotland Self-Determination Bill. Despite 40 out of Scotland’s 59 MPs supporting this it was heavily defeated by English and Welsh English Nationalist votes.
The panel of Eva Comrie, Lloyd Quinan, Yvonne Ridley and Phil Boswell give their views on this outcome and the likely repercussions for Scotland. What are our options? Is there any point in sending MPs down there anymore? What should the independence movement do now that Westminster has proved beyond any doubt there is no union of equals? Scotland is a defacto English colony. Scottish votes and voters are worthless as far as English MPs are concerned.
In this week we also had ex-Yes Movement strategist suggesting Scottish voters are more interested in getting rid of Tory MPs in Scotland rather than gaining independence. The panel discusses this and can I say, Mr Noon’s lugs will be burning!
In the week where it seems the fate of Grangemouth has been predetermined, we discuss Ash Regan’s intervention asking what is the point of a Scottish National Investment Bank if not to invest and save such a vital Scottish resource?
Maybe it is because of the word National which just like his predecessor Huma Yousaf has decided is not a word that should be used in Scotland. Our First Minister Humza might like to hear what our guys think of his latest ode to Nicola!
Graham Stuart MP Tory Energy Minister while trying to take a cheap shot at Scotland openly admits the Scottish resources in the North Sea are subsidising all of the UK.
Meanwhile, The British Labour Party tell us that they intend to give tax cuts to those earning over £100,000 per annum. It will certainly please the MPs at Westminster but will it please the voters in Scotland?
Gordon Toom Tabbard Brown was released from his crypt to give us his latest piece of ‘brilliance’. He wants to see Poverty Superstores throughout his beloved England and by default Scotland and Wales too. He sat in an English television studio with a huge grin on his big pudding face extolling the virtues of this idea! He never, of course, thought for a second to address why there is such poverty in the 8th.richest country on the planet. He never for a moment thought to apologise to his nation of birth for his lies in 2014 to Scotland. Remember when he said, We are Better Together, oh really Gordy?

Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
It has gotten far worse and will continue to do so as they attempt to strangulate Scotland this must be the year we rise or roll over and watch as Scotland disappears into the mist of time and becomes just a Land of mythology as Labour and Tories have done in the past with the removal of historical monuments and building over ancient battlefields wiping our history out and removing our identity hoping to educate our children as little Brits.
Democracy is, indeed, just an illusion, BB. It is, and always has been, utterly impossible to outvote the English MPs. Even Scotland, Wales and NI put together cannot do it.
Those who laugh at the thought of Scottish independence will laugh on the other side of their smug, fat faces one of these fine days. They behaved exactly the same with Ireland. Most politicians in all the parties, here in Scotland and in the UK, are completely out of touch with the people and with reality.
England itself is in turmoil, believe it or not, with the Greens down there tearing themselves asunder over their ‘woke’ contingents. Every party, on both sides of the Tweed, bar those that keep them out, are now in a mess over this one issue. Said this would happen.
The troughers and parasites inhabiting the SNP and the SNP/Green coalition need to be removed post haste. What is even the point of a convention now, when the last one took years to get us to the point when we had a parliament? We simply do not have that time. If we are not gone after 2026, we can whistle for independence by any constitutional and legal means. We must accept several things now: 1. the SNP (and Greens) are not in favour of independence but of a Devo Max settlement which is a total waste of time; 2. there are people in Scotland who will never vote for independence; 3. England, acting as the UK, will never give us independence. With those three points in mind, we have to work out a strategy and the tactics now necessary to move into a position where we can take our independence.
The loss of Grangemouth must be resisted even if, as Yvonne suggests, we mothball it. Every time we asset-strip and allow an industry to die, we destroy a part of our future, independent economy, and we remove from the workforce all those with experience and apprenticeships in that industry who would be able to rebuild a mothballed industry. Our resources and assets are being redirected to England, quite deliberately. To be fair, England has the largest population and Westminster has to focus more on it, but we are not one analogous mass. The Celtic parts of the UK need to be considered, and Scotland especially, as the other signatory to the Union. When we go – and we are going, be in no doubt – the other Celtic parts will take their own futures into account and the UK of GB will cease to exist as a social, political and economic entity – and mainly because the English elites cannot see beyond the end of their noses. I like Phil’s proposed energy security measures.
We are being played, on several different fronts: by the British State, by the British government, by the Scottish government, by the media and by global corporate interests.
Gordon Brown is a joke, indeed. The Italians do something along these lines for their poorer citizens, but not as a replacement for proper welfare provision. The man is unable to see the correlation between poverty, very much brought about by Tory, Labour and Lib Dem policies, and the huge rise in people needing help with basic living. In a First World country, this is beyond disgraceful. It is an outrage and a deliberate policy of impoverishing those least able to look after themselves, then deliberately punishing them with degrading and demeaning chitties to gain access to the basic necessities of life. Eva is spot on: the ratio of income to cost of living is far too low and creates poverty. It does not require one to be a maths genius to work it out, or that giving more and more of the UK’s, and Scotland’s, wealth to the richest 5% is going to cause a shortfall in disposable income for everyone else, and a starvation policy for public services. Independence is the only answer, Lloyd, as you and BB say; there really, really, is no other.
Sorry, BB, should have said that paying the media to shut up on proper news and spout what corporates and politicians want us to hear is now extremely prevalent – which explains a lot.
Roddy, prompted my many of the panels comments today (and perhaps specifically Eva’s experience this week) I hope you will allow my post from elsewhere on social media, minus the actual photo used, it reads:
‘ O wad some power the giftie gie us – To see oorsels as ithers see us!’
The photo below follows those words from Burns – it shows 3 envelopes each of which contains signed Declarations, and will be posted this week to the Secretary General of the United Nations in New York. Also being posted will be letters to 17 UN Member States, confirming the growing number of Scots who no longer consent to the continuation of the Treaty of Union.
In an earlier post I said the Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative was a story. It is a story written by those who have signed their own individual Declaration.
It is a story from the people of Scotland for the world to learn, just as Burns advised.
Notes:
Stories have a beginning, a middle and an end. The Declaration initiative had its beginning in 2021, the more recent contact with the 17 UN Members in addition to the letters to the UN Secretariat (from the very beginning) is the start of the middle which will grow and expand as more Declarations are signed. (Expect further posts on how.)
The end? The end is – as it has always been – and appears in the Title to each Declaration:
The Declaration of an individual Sovereign Scot – its purpose – to regain the independence of Scotland.
(PS: Perhaps of note is that I am not and never have been a member of any political party – and far more importantly I have no idea, nor wish to know of the party alegiance (or none) of any who sign their Declaration.)
Eva on fire and making a pure arse of YUSELESS and proving that HE & his Mentor Sturgeon have not a clue what the word NATIONAL means. They seem to have National mixed up with NATIONALISTS as in the English Nationalists, who are notorious and basically on the far right as they are bigoted racsist who hate all migrants..And I can’t wait to see Eva & the defence lawyers come out in force against this Justice by SNP…
Great Prism as ever but, I can only wish that one day Eva will be PM of this country in an Independent Scotland..
