SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT TAKING THE PEOPLE AND INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT FOR FOOLS.
The SNP/Green coalition kicks the Independence can down the road once again. The Programme for Government pays lip service to Independence while the First Minister confirmed today that no work has been done on preparing for Independence within Government since the 2014 White Paper when she talked about pressing the “restart” button.
“ The 60 seconds dedicated in today’s statement to Independence shows where this Government’s priorities lie. The SNP/Green coalition continues to use the Covid Pandemic as cover for not implementing the renewed mandate for an Independence referendum. The ‘commitment’ to a referendum by 2023 is not worth the paper it is written on as it is dependent on recovery from Covid.
“Independence is essential for Covid recovery. If we wait until 2023 for a referendum we are not only giving Boris Johnston a veto over Scotland’s future we are allowing Westminster to make the essential decisions on which Covid recovery depends.
“Alba’s inaugural Conference later this week will show beyond doubt that we are the only party fully committed to and campaigning for Independence with the urgency and the radicalism that is required.”

Ok, so the genie is out the bottle and Indy under snp/greens is deader than a dead parrot, so time to stop focusing on them, time to start doing what needs done for Indy. They won’t do it, so we have to. Let’s make it so bright and shiny over here that everyone comes running…It really is that simple.
Well blow me down, who saw that coming ?!

Not surprised by the programme for government. It is a devolution programme which lacks real ambition while applying a plaster to the problems we face just now. It’s not terrible as a programme but disappointing that this is the best they can come up with. Also not surprised by the lack of movement on independence, there is no reason that at the very least the legislation can’t go ahead now for the misguided referendum, it’s going to court either way and will take years so why wait other than you’re not serious about the issue at all. The real failure though is the lack of preparation that if a referendum is held soon will result in a loss, that is unforgivable and tells us all about Sturgeons independence credentials.
We truly are Lions led by Donkeys.
We Scots must be one of the few peoples in the world who entrust the English to run our affairs and be castigated as racists for doing so.
Sigh. Here we go again – yet another referendum carrot dangled for the majority of people in Scotland now in favour of independence. I note that this wonderful promise of a referendum by the end of 2023 was qualified with a “Covid-permitting…….” get-out clause. Sneaky. Well, at least we know what the excuse will be in 2023. Hopefully, the majority of indy supporters will have woken up and smelled the coffee well before then. So many years of opportunity wasted. So many years with nothing, absolutely nothing, nada done to make Scottish independence a reality.
Actually, all this frustration has had one benefit – many people are seeing the dangers of holding a referendum held by a less-than-capable Scottish government, covertly manipulated by the British establishment. That could certainly end in tears (again). As time passes, and this nonsense continues, I am coming round to the idea of a plebiscite election. Proposed and held by whoever succeeds the current, sorry bunch. It’s a long shot but a referendum may be more risky (due to a chronic lack of preparation) and more folk are coming round to this and we do have to use the most effective way of thwarting the dark arts of the British establishment.
YES it gets to be a bit of a bore, same old same old. Unfortunately the sheep are still adamant that his shower of charlatans will come up with the goods. Pigs might fly.
