Sick Leave

There are lots of things that really irritate me about social media and writing blogs.

The annoyance about blogs is that so many people look at the strapline and accompanying picture and make assumptions without actually reading the content.😳😳

The same happens on social media you tweet or post something and you get people that don’t read it correctly or misunderstand your point completely.

Then they start to berate you for something that is not anything close to what you have tweeted or posted.

When you try to explain their mistake or misunderstanding they double down and keep on taking the wrong meaning no matter how often you try to clarify matters.

Today I had one person complaining about people closing down debate who when I tried to debate this with him closed down the debate with spurious nonsense.

Then we have people that hijack your thread for their one topic because nobody will respond on their own timeline.

I also get upset with the, ‘he said, she said’ poor me, easily offended types.

I suppose my biggest annoyance and irritation comes with the folks that love to detail their every little illness, headache, toothache, marital or relationship problem.

Another pain is the ones that tell you it is their cats birthday and Tabatha the Cat will be so happy if you can give it some retweets.

Therefore today, I should really call my blog, You Big Bloody Hypocrite!

This will be my last offering by blog, post or tweet for a while.

Tomorrow I go under the surgeon’s knife or nowadays is it under the laser?

I will however keep my medical ailments to myself, suffice to say unless my surgeon his pissed as a fart tomorrow or a 1 in a million something happens it is not in the least a life threatening procedure.

That, of course, does not prevent me from being a big girl’s blouse about the entire thing.

I have been informed by my surgeon that sitting upright and using my phone or laptop is a no no for at least a week to 10 days.

It has maybe come at just the right time. I have found myself becoming extremely agitated with many of my fellow social media users.

It is also good to take a break to recharge my batteries  now that we are on notice.

It is also pleasing knowing that after such a magnificent speech from the First Minister nerves will have been soothed.

Surely she will have quietened down the vast majority of moaners and groaners?

There can be no doubt she fired the starting gun on the referendum campaign.

I am of course, sure that not everyone will be content.

There will always be doom and gloom merchants that can never be satisfied.

What is required for them is a specific date and methodology to get to the referendum.

Not having this amount of detail will give them something to girn and moan about.

As they say, there is just no pleasing some folk.

It will also allow the undoubted Britnat 5th columnists amongst us to poke and prod and do all they can to sow division in the Yes Movement.

Fear ,smear and sneer is all they have left, they lost the argument long ago.

The more gullible in our movement will no doubt oblige and unwittingly help the unionists do their worst.

Personally I was inspired by the First Minister’s speech and I think Nicola set the tone perfectly.

The Referendum will be next year and now we can all start working towards that.

We can also start speculating exactly when in the year ahead we shall be going to the polls.

I personally have no idea when it is likely it will of course, depend on events.

Should HM Gov get some kind of deal as is now looking possible then there will be a transition period.

That means there is not the same urgency to hold the plebiscite.

Should there be no agreement with the EU and a departure on a No Deal basis then some urgency is required.

An early Spring date is then the most likely for the referendum.

I noted that the Sec30 was only mentioned in the passing by the First Minister.

Keith Brown in his earlier speech alluded to the legislation going through Holyrood would ensure a legal referendum.

Is that the Plan B, that was Plan A all along?

Write into Scots Law something that ensures legality no matter what the London Tories say?

That is for the lawyers and investigative types among you to find out.

I will leave that as your homework while I am incapacitated.

Do your stuff and be good  to each other while I am indisposed.

Saor Alba gu brath.

  • Sorry to be pedestrian and an ejit but, have you ever thought that there might be more than just the bog standard #77 brigade lurking around here?

Not being paranoid but, if were on the other side, that is what I would do. Section the market, deliver what the want and the poison the well.

Have you ever heard of a paranoid Panda. Me neither but, maybe I am talking to myself anyway?

  • All the best with your wee ‘proceedure’. Us older folk have the patience and foresight…and a lifetime of experience to know NOTHING happens without a fight. Too many have had it all handed to them & have no idea how they have the rights etc they take for granted. Our Scottish Education system glossed over it all and relegated any ‘wins’ to the losers side. Lack of critical thinking is obvious in so many, they want quick fixes. I’m no SNP member but until we get Indy or someone elses takes up the charge I will lend them my support.

  • Thank you for your posts & please rest & recuperate. The rest of us will carry on forward until you are well enough to join us again. Saor Alba.

  • ll the very best Roddy. May the Angels bring you to a speedy recovery after the hairs on yer erse are no longer knitted thegither 🤭😂. Only kidding.
Have to say, of course I have to ….., I kinda know where you’re coming from. Most Folk have one or two or more to contend with.
1,2 and 3 I’m ok with. Oh and I have no marital problems either. 😬 (fun, free and single 😉)
Get back to your braw self soon ‘my wee friend’ Mwah 😘

  • Barrheadboy…Completely empathise…just back from a music/alcohol-fuelled few days in Shetland, which were refreshingly free of politics…different reasons, but hey…

Hope you’ll soon be back, feeling raring to go and contributing greatly to our common cause of Independence…

    Good health…Sláinte!

  • I wish you a speedy recovery.

Your down-to-earth common sense and patience have been a balm to me when others shriek for immediate action on independence.

I look forward to reading your next piece – next month.
