We couldn’t have timed this particular podcast better. The day following the events in Western Asia. We have been treated to the Prime Minister, the Tory leadership candidates, the BBC, ITV the entire media pack and commentaries all trying to tell us ‘We stand with Israel and This unprovoked attack! Followed by a further load of mistruths and false narratives to paint Israel as a victim, not the aggressor!
It has been the exact same kind of dishonesty and dangerous lies that have been spread to justify the NATO proxy war in Ukraine.The ongoing violence in West Asia is similarly a NATO proxy genocide and killing field, be in no doubt about that!
Neither Israel nor Ukraine could last a day without US/NATO weapons, ‘instructors’, special forces, technology, satellites, guidance systems and military intelligence. This has been deployed against the Muslim world and Russia, then denied and lied about insinuating these are the bad guys and we are the good guys. In other words we are being lied to and gaslit every day by our corrupt government and media. They in turn are being told what to report and more importantly what not to report.
As always we try to bring you the information our corrupt corporate media fails to bring you. Unlike them we do not tell you on your behalf that we all stand with……. fill in the blanks. We are not funded by a Friends of Israel or Russia or Islam organisation to form our opinions. Our opinions on domestic or global matters are based on facts and reality not made up nonsense.
On many of our podcasts, we have stressed it is what we are not told that is the biggest lie of our media and masters. Today we try to rectify that in some way over the Special Military Operation in Ukraine.
I am delighted to be joined by a citizen of Mariupol. A city now made famous because of the huge battle waged there between the Russian military and the fascist Azov Battalions of Ukraine.
Due to the rabid Russophobia in our country, we have had to try to protect the identity of our guest and keep her real identity hidden on camera. Lena is not her real name, however, it was necessary to ensure she faces no knock on the door. It is a terrible indictment on the lack of democracy and honesty in the UK that we need to resort to this. However, we have had people like Craig Murray, Richard Medhurst, Sarah Wilkinson arrested and detained under the Terrorism Act for speaking up in favour of Palestine.
Anyone that does not follow the narrative being deployed by the western governments and their tame media is immediately labelled as anti-Semites or Pro-Putinists. Anything and everything to prevent the truth making its way into the public consciousness.
Our guest Lena is in a unique position to bring you the truth regarding the history and reality of what is today unfolding in Ukraine.She was born and raised there and she has a family consisting of Ukrainians and Russians.
She repeats several times in the interview she is non-political and she has no agenda or leanings. Her answers are the facts, the truth and the pain of seeing her family and place of birth in daily danger. As you can imagine seeing her city of birth destroyed, her friends grieving for lost loved ones has had a huge impact upon her.
Lena takes us on a journey from the days of the USSR led by Leonid Brezhnev when she was born right through to the present day in Ukraine. She explains that Ukraine is a patchwork artificial state that was made up from parts of Russia, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Moldova.
She gives us some wonderful insights into the history of the Donbass and Crimea, which incidentally includes a Scottish General Mackenzie who we find out had an integral part in the history of Crimea. So much so, a mountain range is named after him in Crimea. Lena informs us of the founding of Odessa by Catherine the Great in the 18th century. She gives us numerous historical and topical facts that go some way to explain this horrible conflict.
When I first spoke with Lena, she made it clear she wanted people to know the truth. She, like many of us had only heard the false narrative from the usual outlets and wanted to put on record some actual truth so that Scots could make up their own minds.
As always on Through A Scottish Prism we bring you the facts as best as we can. It is up to you to make up your own mind on who is telling you the truth and who is lying to you.
We have never been nearer to a nuclear holocaust than we are now. It is incumbent upon any responsible news gathering outlet to at least tell the people why they and their families may be incinerated tomorrow!

In these times of creeping authoritarianism in the UK, she has taken great personal risk to speak out so that you may hear some truth and enable you to make up your own mind who are the good guys and who are the bad guys!

I get utterly enraged by the media helping our government and that of the USA to demonise whoever is struggling against them and to paint us as whiter than white.
I’m hoping that more eyes are getting opened every day – especially after Lammy asking UK nationals to pay £350 for a flight home from a war zone. Everything is about making money – not improving lives and the whole war mongering feels as much a class war as a race war.
Regarding Gaza, Lebanon and Iran etc: Christian Zionism in Europe and the US has been deeply embedded for centuries, meaning that Islamist humanity has been dehumanised in the eyes of many in the West to the status of a cultural, default position. The “Godless” Russians have long since been measured by the same ruler. By dehumanising the ‘other’, as the Christian, colonial powers did everywhere they went, murder, robbery and cruelty became sanitised in their collective conscience. Using the Christian Bible as a weapon of self justification, is nothing new.

Putin /Russia had the opportunity to offer neighbours EU style cooperation and assistance with infrastructure and economic development instead of arrogant BS about spheres of influence and the “benefits of Russian brotherhood etc.
However the truth is Russia is incapable of offering anything to its neighbours but the threat, tanks on their borders and full domination from the Kremlin.
Let’s see Putin offer a truly free vote to the entire Ukrainian population including the Cities ceased in his illegal war, on where they want to live?
Putin and the rest of the Oligarchy know with 100% certainty that can’t happen. Instead they will continue to prosecute their war for the right dominate millions who simply don’t want them at all.

(I could argue your views on Scottish Independence are a little at odds with your views on Ukrainian Independence particularly as Ukraine is already sovereign state.)

I believe Scotland is chronically badly governed by Westminster’s involvement and appallingly poorly served by being in the Union. And yes a particularly unequal Union that has long since failed to be relevant.
But unlike you, it seems, I don’t know what an Independent Scotland should be politically.
I figure the political complexion of a future Scotland should be for it’s post independence voters to decide. Not defined in advance.
I personally may not like what Scottish voters choose but that ain’t important. What is important that what Scottish voters vote for they will get.
On immediate actions toward achieving this I would concentrate on getting Holyrood the right to call a referendum on its own. When it can get a majority to do so and at an agreed minimum time period between calls.
This puts the onus on Unionist Parties to continually prove/demonstrate the value of the Union to Scottish voters.
This should imo have been part of the original set up but of course Holyrood was established as an attempt blunt Nationalist sentiments not as route to achieving independence.
However the rise of the SNP changed that and so Holyrood should change. That is imo a clear and politically strong position to argue from.
That the SNP, blew it (largely by morphing into SLAB 2) and are now largely a busted flush doesn’t change that the political landscape has shifted.
The question is how to move forward I personally don’t see any strong appetite for Independence at the moment , consistent support for the idea sure, but that ain’t the same.
Eg There is no wide spread frustration (yet) with Westminster rule.
This is not a time for Catalan style heroics (brave but still failed) I see now as a time to build consensus on the widest political platform build new arguments etc.
The SNP are very unlikely to recover before 2026. So the question becomes what will Scottish voters do at the next Holyrood election? Like it or not this matters.
I predict Reform MSP’s but what Nationalist platform will be present remains the key question.
Other actions that could be useful would be campaigns to change the electoral System in Holyrood. Primarily to break the power of parties over who gets elected. The biggest reason the SNP failed is their elected cohorts increasingly didn’t share the views of those they were asking to vote for them on a raft of issues that weren’t about or remotely related to Scottish Independence.
Sadly the same disconnect between the elected and the electors is true of all political parties particularly of the left.
I have held and developed my views on the need for Scottish Independence over nearly 50 years but mostly only expressed them when living in Scotland. Something I will continue to do.
