Very interesting stuff, BB and Julie. I have to say that I have long wondered why we have never gamed the system in the way that the Unionists do. I, too, noticed some time ago that they were, basically, swapping votes for Unionism, and the 2014 referendum was the apex of that. I wish the SNP would get its finger out of its nether regions and start using sense. A formal agreement is out of the question because of the Electoral Commission rules, but an informal agreement, or an understanding, with the other pro independence parties could see us sweep the board. I, too, am mystified as to the acceptance of the Greens but not other pro independence parties. Too close for comfort, maybe, and the Greens, at Holyrood, have voted against the SNP as often as they have voted with it, so that might be an indicator, if the SNPG is hiring to string out the independence question for another decade at least?
The Scottish Green Party is an established pro Independence Party with sitting msp’s. It’s a party that’s recognised by people the length a breadth of the country. All the new parties that are popping up, will need to win the trust of the electorate to win their votes and that takes years. We saw what happened to RIse, they failed, and they certainly had some fairly well known personalities. Whether we like it or not, our opponents see the SNP as the voice of Scottish independence, they would just love it if droves of voters left the SNP for small insignificant parties with little chance of winning. I can just see the MSM headlines. VOTERS DESSERT SNP.

C’mon folks let’s no fall for it, we can win the majority we want without trying to game a system that’s almost impossible to game. Let’s stay united and let’s vote SNP 1 & 2.
So many inaccuracies here starting with Rise, what personalities? They were a far left experiment that attacked SNP and their voters from day one. They had no branch network and no real strategy except winning SNP Votes and trying to turnout the underclass vote that nobody has ever succeeded in achieving.Rise was also backed by a single not so popular blog that the vast majority of Yessers still avoid to this day.The ISP on the other hand has 7 bloggers of note that are supportive some of us more vociferous than others thus far. ISP do have a branch network and a strategy which has already begun utilising social media and Internet better than any other party has ever done not just in this election. Ongoing a number of as you w, ould put it personalities, will make their support open and known.
The Greens, this has been said and shown on numerous occasions that they are not an Independence party.Check their website fir a start and see how prominent or not any mention of I dependence you can find. In past 5 years while holding the balance of power at Holyrood they have done exactly zero to push or promote Independence. They only ever mention independence at election time. Their untrustworthy nature has ensured that a huge number of SNP voters that lent them their vote in 2016 will not do so again. Women voters are reviled by the Greens stance on GRA and women’s rights. As Andy Wightman said in his resignation letter Gender Politics seems to have consumed Greens and their biology denial will hurt them severely in May. Their dalliance with Unionists over OBFA shows just how easily they can be seduced by the Brits. Lastly and most importantly with SNP sitting at 50%+ possibly 58% in the constituency they are unlikely to win any List Seats. A vote for the ISP is a free hit and poses no threat to the SNP unlike the Greens who will stand in Constituency seats in every region. Greens are toxic and not be trusted.
perhaps if you were able to grasp what these parties are saying then perhaps you will see where they are coming from there, is no intention of taking votes away from the SNP their advice is to vote SNP in the constituencies and them in the list I cannot fathom out why you would think otherwise are you aware that voting SNP 1 and 2 got the SNP 4 List seats with 956,587 votes the Tories got 24 seats with 524,220 votes labour got 21 seats with 435,919 votes the greens got 6 seats with 150,000 votes and Lib Dems got 1 seat with 119,284 votes, the SNP trounced them all with 946,587 votes and gets only 4 seats the figures show that over 750000 SNP votes were defaulted to these other parties so vote 1 and 2 as you say and do Westminster’s work for them . I would also remind you that the greens have voted against the SNP far more ties than with them. facts not fiction.
I voted Greens in West of Scotland region in 2016 and helped Ross Greer get elected. I have already told him that I will not be doing that again.
Hi Iain, there’s just too much info out there to inform anyone who’s interested in learning why giving a single party both your votes doesn’t make a lot of sense, if you’re aim is to cut the number of Unionists at Hollyrood come May 2021.
Very interesting, and encouraging. Hadn’t really taken much interest in the new list parties but maybe they have a role to play in getting us out of the current impass. The only thing I’m sure about just now is that I’m sick of SNP hot air and virtue seeking so I’m certainly open to persuasion.
why are the SNP scared of other pro Independence parties who could gain a massive Pro Independence Government. my feeling is that the SNP are just talking and not doing such as out of Brexit done and dusted, Internal market done and dusted, the setting up of the Scottish office done and dusted with only a whimper from the SNP too many promises and NO ACTION, time is ticking for Independence and the survival of SNP time to drop the SNP ego section 30 and get a plebiscite election. the Scottish people have been far too patient with the lack of any Independence action by the SNP one day that patience will snap.
I’m not voting 1st vote for SNP unless they name a date and or a plebiscite for an alternative to section 30. No leadership, no delegation, no clue, and miss management of the highest order. And don’t start me on how much Mr Sturgeon is getting paid for this from SNP membership funds?
Mr Murrell has a lot to answer for and probably he will go with the new NEC and I don’t think that Nicola Sturgeon will be around for much longer when the truth about her involvement in the 2 Salmond fiasco’s. section 30 is an ego trip as is voting SNP 1 and 2 its about controlling the voters and the members and they seem to be doing a good job on that.
