I have made my position clear on an Indy List Party for the Holyrood election next year. Let me just reiterate my caveats. A single entity Party that has the buy in of the YES Movement. A well-known trusted leader as the figurehead and focal point. No extreme ideology or single issue platform. I do not think any of those conditions are too onerous and if there is enough goodwill and no ego this can become a reality.
The last few weeks, in particular, have made the necessity to remove as many Unionist seat warmers from Holyrood as possible. I have always been dismayed at the antics and mental gymnastics of the Unionists. There are few more cynical than me when it comes to these Scottish house-jocks. They have though, however over the recent days taken their devotion to England’s Parliament to new levels of idolatry.
Willie Rennie is the epitome of everything that is wrong with the Union and Scotland remaining inside it. Unionists are the best there are at defending the indefensible. Economics, Brexit, Austerity, Sanctions, Illegal Wars and now Paedophilia cover ups. Our resident House-Jocks have managed to justify all of these damaging things, if not to us, certainly to themselves. This allows them to reconcile their blind loyalty to England’s overlordship of Scotland and continue to work against our nations well being.
Rennie heads up the Liberal Party branch office that after their own internal enquiry into Cyril Smith’s paedophilia managed to find David Steel had done no wrong. They decided there should be no further action and that he should immediately be reinstated back into the bosom of the Liberal Party.Soon after announcing the result of their internal enquiry, Willie as is his want, could not wait to get in front of the television cameras. Nobody does pious insincerity quite like wee Willie Rennie, the Reg Varney of Fife.He stood in front of the lens and tried to make out David Steel as the wronged party in this matter. He didn’t outright call it a, witchhunt but he came damn close. We now know the official IICSA enquiry found the exact opposite of the Liberal whitewash. This has resulted, rightly in Lord Steel resigning from the Liberal Party and allegedly sometime soon, giving up his place at the Westminster trough. Not to worry though, another Liberal hypocritical trough dweller is on the way. A wee hint, it is one with thousands of accents and zero principles.A perfect Liberal in other words. In any other walk of life this would have resulted in Rennie resigning on the same day as Steel. However, in the corrupt British Union, normal rules do not apply. The foreign owned Scottish media are not pursuing Rennie and instead prefer to give us fluff pieces about the 55 years old Prime Minister siring yet another child to yet another woman. Had Mr Johnson been from a council estate and had behaved in a similar manner, with a similar amount of women and children the contempt being rained down on him now would be incessant and virulent. The advantages of an Etonian Oxbridge education have no limits, eh Boris?
At the same time advisers close to the PM and the Chancellor are leaking memos suggesting that Farming and Fishing are not vital to the UK economy. These, it seems can be sacrificed for the common good. (Using words like common when referring to the Finance Sector is probably inappropriate.) These two sectors are, of course, vital to the Scottish economy. Some have put the value of our Scottish food exports as high as £5 billion per annum. Once again the Scottish media have chosen to sidestep a vital Scottish issue. To do otherwise might show the Union in an unfavourable light. Instead of exposing this major Scottish concern our media decided to favour more pressing matters like someone receiving £130,000 in legal aid. The single case of Coronavirus found in Scotland gave them adequate cover for their omission. The Herald preferred to go with an attack on SNP using unresearched smears. All of these stories have merit, however a £5 billion pa industry I would suggest should take top billing as newsworthy. How many jobs are directly or indirectly related to fishing and farming? Exposing this story to the Scottish public with the gravity it deserves would rightly endanger the Union. That is exactly why those posing as journalists in newsrooms and television studios throughout Scotland choose to let this story be a minor item. With no emphasis the seriousness will be lost on the average citizen. The old adage if it was important the Beeb would have told us. Should a belligerent like me complain to the media they can ‘truthfully’ say they covered that story. We have seen this devious trick so many times by them. The media and broadcasters given an opportunity to act like a Fourth Estate prefer to behave like a 5th Column every single time.
With every passing day more and more evidence of the looming Brexit disaster finds its way into the public domain. Sadly most of this happens because of diligent UK citizens or overseas media outlets. The UK media is very much an establishment propaganda outlet. They protect the rich and powerful and long ago abandoned the ordinary people. Just like Willie Rennie their only concern is themselves.Their own well being takes priority, irrespective of the cost to the majority. What is right, is way behind self-aggrandisement sadly.
It is truly amazing that even with such a hostile media the SNP have been so successful. That success is down to Party stalwarts over the decades keeping the flame of freedom flickering. I truly believe the advent of the Internet was the single biggest factor in the SNP ultimate breakthrough. The stranglehold of the corrupt media and press barons has been broken and it can never be repaired. Technology has overtaken the printing press. What just a few years ago seemed vital in our ability to communicate or receive information are relics, Telex and Fax machines, the fixed line telephone, the payphone, newspapers and news bulletins. Papers like the Telegraph and Sun are losing money and readers in ever increasing amounts. Soon what waning influence they have over our daily lives will dissipate to negligible. The once massively profitable Telegraph Group bought for £650 million in 2004 now cannot find a buyer. Its most recent financials showed a tiny profit and it is expected to fall into losses for the foreseeable future. The Sun announced a huge loss of £68 million last week. This is only one of Murdoch’s papers, there is no reason or evidence to believe any of his dead tree press is making money. Not many years ago everyone in Scotland listened to at least one TV News bulletin. The kids nowadays never watch preferring to get their information from the net. The establishment is losing their grip, and they have no idea how to regain control. When they had all the newspapers, TV stations and radio shows it was easy their’s was the only message.

Now there is an alternative, new media. That medium is at the forefront of our movement. Most of the people reading this blog will not have bought a newspaper for years. Rarely will they listen to TV or radio news except to get angry, not to get informed. The YES Movement prefer to get their information from social media and new media. That is why our List Party must ensure that they include the entire YES Movement. We must be united in our endeavours to rid ourselves of the Holyrood Unionist dead wood. We need to work towards the SNP attaining 50%+ in the constituency vote. We also want to work towards a 70% Independence supporting Parliament. We cannot leave any room for denial.
We should not expect any help from the establishment media or journalists. They will spend every minute of every day protecting England’s interests not Scotland’s. We need to spend our time carefully explaining the D’Hondt voting system to the electorate. We need to ensure the YES Movement understand completely the motives and methodology that is being deployed. Next May is our chance to bypass the corrupt media and establishment and break their stranglehold on some of our fellow Scots. They are few.We are many. It is up to all of us to communicate the Independence message to our fellow Scots.
I truly believe that most things in life are relatively simple, unfortunately, it is people that makes them complicated. This List Party concept is simple, let us not allow people or their egos to complicate it!
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
The egos have already landed – potentially three new parties so far.
Another excellent post. Keep up the good work it is much appreciated.
Any more than ONE list party and the whole idea will split the YES vote .
I do not believe there is anyone in Scotland that is capable of bringing all the LIST votes together under one umbrella and have to say that the wingsoverscotland site is too easily distracted by other matters and can not possibly be entrusted with such a massively important Scottish independence task.
All this will do is (even were it to work) would be to remove a handful of unionists and distort the proportional representation of the people.
There are pluses and minuses to having more than one List party Terence. The messaging is certainly much easier if there is only one Indy List party and this would be my preference. The mathematical advantages to having two is clear though from consideration of the mathematics of the d’Hondt method.

On the other side of Independence, the system surely does need to be tweaked. It is being abused by the Unionists. Tory serial election loser Murdo Fraser, for instance, has lost every first past the post election he has stood in since 1997, including two Westminster elections and all five Scottish Parliament elections so far. Yet Scotland has to have him as MSP! I have no problem with three or four losses in Constituency elections but it is surely sensible to have a limit.
Even a handful of Unionists, and there need be no such restriction, might make a huge difference. The Tories of Murdo’s generation, for instance, fought vigorously against the formation of Holyrood. Other, younger,Unionists argue for the abolition of Holyrood. What use are such folk to the organisation?
