Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse where a person causes someone to question their sanity, memories or perception of reality. People who experience gaslighting may feel confused, anxious, or unable to trust themselves.
Our politicians this week both the Labour and SNP Parties took this gaslighting to a different level. At the SNP Conference John Swinney took it to an incredibly dishonest conclusion “The SNP has spent too long focusing on the process of independence.” He really does think we are all that stupid!
We all know that the truth is the exact opposite. The SNP is in freefall for not focusing on independence for the last 10 years! Under Sturgeon the SNP abandoned the independence cause and instead concentrated on the woke philosophy of genderism and biology denial. This was only after she had jumped on the ‘Me Too’ bandwagon and had tried to wrongly imprison the former First Minister. From that it was easy for her to fall into the whole woke insanity. Both of those idiotic deviations from independence are now coming home to roost.
Her straying from the cause of independence was the point that the invincibility of the SNP was punctured. As she took the party further and further down the Stonewall road and further and further away from the independence road, voters, supporters and members drifted away from the SNP. Now it is a tsunami of departures and voting abstensions. The numbers or lack of at this weekends SNP Conference bears testament to that.
This idiocy of Sturgeon was carried on by both Yousaf and now Swinney. This week’s Conference had a lower attendance than those of the 1970s when we only had Winnie Ewing in Brussels and Donald Stewart at Westminster. The crowds back then were twice the size of this week’s denial get-together.
In another classical gaslighting exercise during the debate on drugs related deaths the Cabinet Secretary decided to blame those addicted and Westminster for his government’s failures.
Swinney and his lieutenants better wake up soon to the reality of where and more importantly why their party is failing.This refusal to face reality and take responsibility for their own actions will in the long term damage them irreparably. This attempt at trying to blame the cause of independence will be the final straw for many. The SNP is now a dead party walking.
Not to be outdone our English Imperial Government in London told their House Jocks in Scotland to start blaming the SNP for Westminster’s decades of malfeasance! As you all know I am no fan of the SNP however, this attack by Sarwar and his English Nationalist mates goes beyond the pale.
The tactics by Labour are simple, in Scotland all blame for the decision to end the Winter Fuel Payments to pensioners and the increased London austerity is to be blamed on the SNP Scottish Government who do not control the economy. Labour is to be held up as the only change necessary to stop the rot in Scotland. Then between 2026 and 2031 Labour will still blame everything on the previous SNP government. They will never take responsibility for their actions and they will never blame Westminster policies for any harmful outcomes. Even in opposition it will be all the SNP’s fault! Needless to say the corrupt media have joined in on this gaslighting lie.
In England the same tactic is already in use except it is the Tories that are being blamed for the very same neoliberalism being heaped upon us by this Labour Government. Starmer this week signalled that by telling us “Things will get worse before they get better.” That is code for austerity on steroids. The Tories will, of course, be blamed for it all no blame will be attached to Labour, for now. Eventually, the corrupt media and establishment will turn on them just as they did to the Tories recently. It is how it works in London. We are gaslit every day of our lives!
The best part of the Labour plan is Wales where again the Tories in Westminster will get the blame, not the Labour, devolved Government in Wales. Westminster austerity and economic policies by the Tories will be held up as the guilty party to the Welsh people. Again the corrupt media in Wales will trumpet this lie!
Unlike the SNP, the devolved Welsh Government will be found as the aggrieved party.
The Parties do this because they hold the voters in contempt. They have lied and managed to get away with it so often they just keep repeating it knowing full well that most voters have very short memories. That much is obvious with Labour now being our government. Anyone that was awake between 1997 and 2010 should remember why they were voted out and replaced by the Tories. They literally are two cheeks of the same arse! Yet we are gaslit every decade or so to believe the other main party is the saviour!
Unless the Scottish public wake up and take matters into their own hands, our nation is facing great danger in 2026. SNP or Labour is as bad a choice as Tory Labour in a UK choice. We need an alternative and we need it now!

I think the Scottish public is waking up, all be it very slowly and painfully, like realising you have a massive Sunday morning hangover. Election turnouts are getting lower and lower as perceptions of being taken for suckers by established political parties are getting higher and higher. The potential for a radical pro-independence party to clearly emerge and rapidly develop is there. If the abstentionist ISP can gain traction they could become Scotland’s Sinn Fein.
Yes we are idiots, why did we allow Alex Salmond to hold a referendum on Independence knowing it was going to fail before anyone even went to the voting both.
I have no idea why it was so important to Salmond to allow the English, Welsh and Irish nationals including foreign nationals and Students totaling 1.5million who’s voted denied Scotland becoming a Independent country. When it was a constitutional question important to the Scottish people at home and abroad, Salmond set this referendum up to fail and fail it did.
You have to agree that the BIG man did rally the troops.
Time did not allow for a new franchise to be drawn up, 100%. Alec Salmond has explained this many times. Do you know the work that would have had to be done to draw up a new franchise, and, because the referendum was held under UK rules, they would not have allowed the franchise to be restricted to born Scots and those settled here for X number of years only. That is why, next time, no referendum and no wide franchise or the same will happen again.

Though resource rich, us Scots are made into the poorest people in NW Europe thanks to this colonial-union which costs us £150bn+ every year, and rising. TBQH I would like to see Eva Comrie take the lead as head of any move towards a convention with Sara Salyers acting as depute , both Eva and Sara are straight talking no nonsense individuals who have an ability to speak at all levels of society , they also have the integrity and honesty that everyone from all walks of life can respect
I fully support a CITIZENS convention and assembly to enable direct democracy to ensure that we NEVER find ourselves in this lunatic position of weakness from politicians again, but I am equally supportive in the interim of a convention selected from the greater good of society to correct the misinformation and lies that Scotland is in debt and is financially bankrupt
Horse and cart. The SNP horse pulling the Independence cart lies dead in the street. We have another horse which was marginalised many years ago. That horse is called ‘YES’, It has all the attributes of a strong reliable homegrown movement, not one which is delivered into the hands of careerist politicians. The foundations to build on are still there, all we require are those with intellect, integrity and an honest desire to restore Scotland to its rightful place in the world as an independent nation.
Unless we unharness the ‘woke’ from the SNP and every other party in Scotland, independence will be impossible because these people do not want independence, and never did. People need to understand what they are, which is destructionists and nihilists. Even if we did get independence, they would work towards destroying the country. Look at Ireland, and the utter mess these people have it in today. Do not look to Ireland to solve our problems. These people create the very conditions in which the self-interested can swim around in the agar of me-ism.
Think about it: they exist in the SNP, but they also exist in the Unionist parties; and they cannot be both independence-minded and Unionist-minded at one and the same time. They are out for their own agenda, which is to introduce queer theory and post modernism into all aspects of political policy in order to bring the house down around our ears and establish a ‘wokedom’.
Some of those – most? – at the higher echelons of the SNP are double agents. They are exactly like those who occupied the positions around Adams and MacGuinness, in Sinn Fein. They are British State agents. No other explanations can possible cover what they have done. None. Adams and MacGuinness decided that infiltration of Sinn Fein was so bad that they needed to start over again, by bringing the movement into a peaceful existence. Guess what? It is now riddled with the ‘woke’. It is just a matter of time before it is brought low again.
It will have served its purpose for the British State which has made use of it both here and in Ireland, but the British State itself is going to have its hands full in trying to keep these people in line because they represent the hard left, the totalitarian version of the ‘far right’ fascism that is offered up as a sop to the people. It is the totalitarian hard left we should all fear, the ‘woke’ version of hell. We are being gaslit about the ‘far right’ and our attention taken away from the real enemy within, albeit we do not want the real far right anywhere near us either. They are two sides of the same coin and they owe allegiance to nothing and nobody except their own appetites and malice.
Excellent stuff. Might look like there’s a deid elephant blocking the road, but no; when we look more closely there’s more ‘dualling’ than we might think. Just like those old hill paths criss-crossing Scotland to freely take folk where they needed to go, the routes are still there and remarkably user-friendly. Lets go where we need to go, by our own robust routes, and bypass the coloniser’s new roads built for their objectives.
