The Former Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Justice and ALBA Depute Leader Kenny MacAskill MP has raised the case of Craig Murray, the imprisoned journalist, with the UK Attorney General in an exchange in the House of Commons today (Thursday). Following the exchange Mr MacAskill said:
“A great injustice has been visited upon Craig Murray who has been jailed for eight months without the right of appeal. That is shameful and unjust. I was therefore glad to have the opportunity to raise his case directly with the UK Attorney General as both broadcasting and human rights are reserved responsibilities.
“I welcome the Attorney General’s statement on the importance of freedom of speech for journalists and I have taken up her offer of a meeting to discuss Craig Murray’s case and to explore all possible remedies, including what if anything, can be done to have his case examined under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
“I will continue to fight for Justice for Craig Murray and to ensure that his case receives the attention it so rightly deserves.”
So basically Alba are subjugating Scotland just like the others. May as well cancel my membership since they will not assert Scotland’s authority.
Think your missing the actual point here Gayle … at least Mckaskil is doing sonething … ask yourself why is Craig Murray in jail in the 1st place .and in who’s authority.. and not the others who made a better job of identifying the pursuant!

I disagree Gayle, though I see your point of principle. Kenny is using WM selectively for the highly practical purposes of a) helping Craig Murray and b) exposing the problems that Scotland has with no separation of powers between government, judiciary, and policing.

No country should gaol journalists just because they publish an alternative account from your propaganda and fake claims.
That is good news today what Macaskill has done. Puts the rest of them to shame in WM. Yet the guy in jail told people to vote for the people who put him there. I gave up on this injustice after that. Why bother.

It stands to reason, Gayle, that all avenues, in an attempt to release Craig Murray from prison, are worthy of consideration.
Also a a founder member of ALBA, I agree with Gayle to the point of using Wastemonster, Scotland has all the powers required to release Craig and going to Wastemonster, is pointless and actually undermines Holyrood in my opinion, So pressure should be put onto the Scottish Government at Holyrood.
However, I would not bin my ALBA membership because of it but bring it up with ALBA.
