Reacting to the publication today (Monday) of the Labour Party’s report on constitutional change ALBA Westminster Leader and MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath Neale Hanvey said:
“After the Vow which promised ‘as near to federalism as you can have’ this report will convince no one. We’ve heard it all before.
“Gordon Brown is firmly stuck in a Westminster ‘time warp’ as this report seeks to retain a London veto over Scotland’s right to choose its own future. It is for that reason that it will be roundly rejected in Scotland where support for both Independence and Scottish Democracy is growing daily since the Supreme Court ruling.
“Of course transferring powers out of Whitehall and Westminster to the nations and regions of the UK is long overdue. However the one power this report does not transfer is the right of the people of Scotland to determine their own future in an Independence referendum for which there is already a majority in the Scottish Parliament and multiple political mandates.
“People haven’t forgotten that Gordon Brown was a signatory to the Claim of Right in 1989 which asserts that Scots should determine the form of government best suited to their needs. This report falls far short of that pledge.
“The days when politicians at Westminster can dictate the terms and timing of Scotland’s constitutional journey are ending, and this reheated and stale ‘jam tomorrow’ will seal the deal.
“As a fundamental human right and in step with international legal standards, it is Scotland’s people who will ultimately decide Scotland’s future and no amount of Westminster interference or dik-tat from Labour grandees will change that.”
Well said and this message needs to be out there as a response to Gordon Brown’s reiteratiin of the vow.
No offence to pigs but Gordon Brown must think the Scottish electorate are pig thick.
His party certainly took us for mugs for many years. He certainly sold us a pup with the vov.
The most powerful devolved government in the world he told us back then. And now like some creature from the crypt, he back to promise more.

And with a prolonged cold snap with some seriously minus temperatures forecast for some bits of Scotland I awake this morning with the joy that our community will all be able to turn up their heating to stay cosy and warm.

So there you have it folks, SNP MPs working harder than ever, fele tlessly focused, standing up for Scotland, holding the Tory government to account. A d best of all, making the case for independence!
