It is the powers that Westminster retains that hobble the nation of Scotland. The economic levers, monetary and fiscal policy, taxation, foreign affairs, defence, bilateral arrangements, broadcasting and of course, the constitution.
Our friends in Salvo/Liberation may dispute the last one and we hope they are right however, in today’s UK, Westminster has made Westminster sovereignty the ‘norm.’ The SNP taking their Referendum Bill to the Supreme Court in London not only amply endorsed that point it sent a signal that SNP accepted Westminster overlordship!! It was a terrible self-inflicted blunder by the SNP.
The YES Movement of 2013-2014 shook the UK/English establishment to its very foundations. They were visibly terrified when the people of Scotland united as one to fight for their independence. The last thing any government in any nation wants, is a motivated and knowledgeable electorate.
Who can forget the 100 English Labour MPs, our imperial masters, descending upon Glasgow in the summer of 2014 to save the union. The panic of David Cameron, Ed Milliband, Nick Clegg, Gordon Brown all arriving in Scotland in the last few days of the campaign to collude with Unionist Daily Record’s Murray Foote to write the VOW.
A document more flawed than Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in our times” in September 1938. At least there was a year between the Hitler bargain being broken and the outbreak of WWII on 3rd September 1939.
The English VOW to Scotland was broken on 19th September, 2014 the day after the referendum when David Cameron announced EVEL, English Votes for English Laws at Westminster.
That should have been the trigger for the SNP to announce that the next UK General Election in 2015 would be an independence plebiscite. Sadly, as we all know that was the first of the many missed opportunities for our cause.
56 out of 59 SNP MPs at Westminster and we did absolutely nothing to advance the cause. It got worse in 2017 when Sturgeon said a “Vote for the SNP was not a vote for independence.”
What should be noted is that the unity and strength of the YES Movement not only scared the English establishment it terrified the SNP establishment too. Politicians hate the things they cannot control. They despise anyone that dares to question them.Worse still they hate anything that is more popular than them and their party! That was the YES Movement, talented, knowledgeable, popular and answerable only to the cause!
When members of the public or a rare journalist tries to hold politicians to account our trough dwellers call it abuse! It is why they are desperately trying to bring censorship to social media. The attacks on Elon Musk and X are indicative of establishment fear of the proletariat having a voice and worse still a choice.
The elite will take this to extraordinary lengths to maintain the status quo, be that in UK or Scotland. In England the right in the Labour Party was determined that their own leader and socialist Jeremy Corbyn would not become Prime Minister. The right in the Labour Party actually hate socialism. Instead, of becoming the UK Government in 2019 they colluded against their own party to ensure a Boris Johnson Tory Government was elected, not a Labour led Corbyn Government.
When Corbyn was leader the Labour party membership was the largest in all of Europe. That charlatans like Starmer & Co were willing to lose the election, resulted in that membership shrinking dramatically. The Labour right wingers preferred to have a Tory Government rather than a left-wing Labour government. It should tell you everything you need to know about the London Metropolitan Parties and establishment.
Starmer’s purges of the left have backfired and his government is already hugely unpopular in the country. More trouble is on the horizon and there is a very real spectre of a new English socialist political party led by Jeremy Corbyn emerging early next year.
Sadly, in Scotland Nicola Sturgeon too preferred to sacrifice not only a Super Majority at the 2021 Holyrood Election she happily sacrificed a golden independence opportunity. Rather than unite the entire independence movement with an SNP 1 Alba 2 voting strategy, she opted for SNP 1 2.She has also presided over the party shedding members quicker than Keir Starmer sheds policy pledges!
The Constitutional Convention promised by Sturgeon on 31st January 2020 was yet another of her many broken promises. She was never going to call something that would unite and reignite the YES Movement. She saw in 2014 that the SNP could not control, censor or mould the movement to do the party’s bidding.Again the party before nation was evident in her actions.
During the referendum campaign YES Groups throughout Scotland did their own thing with no lead from SNP HQ and took us to the brink of independence. That is why Sturgeon actively destroyed the movement. She was and still is the epitome of a control freak!
It is with this background that Independents 4 Independence movement was formed. In truth it was formed with Holyrood 2026 in mind, not the UK General Election. However, it was decided to field 3 candidates and ‘trial’ the method and brand in July this year.
Our belief is a simple one. Scotland’s priority like ours is independence. It is not about strutting the world stage and firing missiles into Russia or funding terrorist governments in the Middle East to pretend we are still a world power. It is not about Aircraft Carriers and WMD and being belligerent. Its not about men in dresses, Vogue photoshoots or cycle lanes.
Our ambitions are all about Scotland and the lives of our population. We have no interest in foreign wars or interfering in other nations affairs. The only regime change that interests us is changing out forever the English Regime that governs Scotland.
Whatever it is about life in Scotland that we want to change or implement being independent makes it a lot simpler and more likely to succeed. All the other agendas can be parked until after we secure our independence. Then without outside influence the Scottish people will choose their form of governance as stipulated in our ancient Claim of Right.
From the economy to foreign affairs to transport, infrastructure, defence we are tied to England’s world and domestic view. It has always been the case since 1707. What England wants England gets! Scots get whatever England deems fitting as long as we stay in our lane! They control the purse strings and they determine how much or how little we get to spend each year. They in fact choose everything we can only nod and accept. It is the price we pay for being a colony!
Indy 4 Indy is a simple concept. It is our mission to ensure once more the grassroots are the driving force and the power in Scottish politics. It is Independence Nothing Less.
The parties we entrusted to bring us our independence have not delivered, not even come close to moving us any closer than we were in September 2014.
In the past when some of us have questioned the parties about their lack of commitment or tactics to independence we have been attacked and called numerous names, cybernats, homophobes, bigots, fascists, anti-independence yoons. The list of abusive name calling goes on and on.
Indy 4 Indy believe it is time to stop playing political games and start delivering independence. We also think it is pointless to play by Westminster rules of engagement.
Some of you may have noticed that at least one Scottish journalist has remembered his job. Martin Geissler of BBC has been asking the awkward questions of Unionist politicians. He has interviewed Starmer, Reeves, Sarwar, Murray and others and has asked the same question. “Is the British union voluntary?” That always gets a quick response from the Brits and House Jocks, ” yes of course it is!” It’s the supplementary question that gives them the problem. “If it is a voluntary union how then can Scotland legally leave the union?”
This is when the unionists falter, they mumble and as in Starmer and Sarwars case they both tried the” People don’t want to talk about that…” What of course, they mean is unionists do not want to talk about it! They do not like questions or debate on the Constitutional question. It’s why they always steer it back to Westminster issues be it the economy, defence, jobs, housing, things they can easily lie and distort and more importantly control the narrative. It is time we controlled the narrative!
I too have found a question to unionists and House Jocks that has the same reaction as a vampire faced with a piece of garlic. “Name 3 things that can only be achieved by the British Union that cannot be achieved by an independent Scotland?” This question has a few outcomes they go silent and block me or they respond with ridiculous things like you will have no currency England/the world won’t trade with you. You will have no defence all that nonsense.Either that or they slink away! You see, there is no positive case for the union, we can achieve anything the Union or any other nation can achieve.
So here is the simple plan.We believe that just as in September, 18th 2014, we need focus. We had a date and an objective to work towards, a single mission. That is why we believe it the movement should focus on Thursday 7th May 2026 the date of the next Holÿrood General Election.. There are 129 seats up for grabs.73 constituency seats and 56 list seats in 8 Scottish regions.Let us turn it into an Independence Plebiscite!
It’s our aim to see one Independence candidate in each constituency seat. Multiple I4I candidates on the list.We hope and believe that this is the best way to reach our ultimate goal of independence.
Some of you reading this will be saying, the parties will never agree to work together again in common cause. As of today, that is true. However, if we all remember the unity of 2014 and strive towards that same level of togetherness, and participation believe me, the parties will be falling over themselves to be included in our reinvigorated movement and plans. This time we can make the politicians fear work for us, not the party system!
It won’t happen if we all stay at home and do nothing. We need to be out in our local communities campaigning, canvassing, agitating and working for our common goal, Independence Nothing Less! We need that fighting spirit of 2014 and we need it now.
Indy 4 Indy believes a single line in all manifestos is all it takes. “A vote for ### is a vote for a Scottish Independence declaration.”
To assist in these efforts Through A Scottish Prism and Indy 4 Indy have developed and funded a new campaigning/canvassing app called Campaigner. This state of the art tool complete with an inbuilt GPS system will enable us to compete with the bigger parties on an even playing field.
To succeed though, we need to have boots on the ground! We now have the latest technology to reach and identify our support and to get the vote out when the time comes. They have the TV studios and the foreign owned press we have the people and the cause, let’s use it for us this time!
I will go into Campaigner in greater detail in my next blog.
In the meantime please visit and share,
https://www.indy4indy.scot/
There we would encourage you to become active. We need to be campaigning all over Scotland. We especially appeal to those that feel they have no political home just a burning desire for independence.
We need help to build a nationwide campaigning group that will carry us to independence.
Independence Nothing Less.
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
Roddy, I do not believe my follow members of Salvo / Liberation would disgree with your view that the powers that Westminster retain, including the ‘constitution’ hobbles the nation of Scotland.
Westminster acting as the Anglo state uses a ‘British’ constitution, which is unwritten (ie not encoded) allowing each government of the day to change the rules as they go along, almost unhindered. Westminster deploys English parliamentary sovereignty to undermine, oppose and block the constitutional and political rights of the people of Scotland.
The constitutional powers the UK government retains and deploys ignores the democratic settlement agreed as a condition of the supposed ‘voluntary Union’. That settlement as defined in the Treaty & Acts of Union clearly acknowledged and protected the sovereignty of the people of Scotland.
Unity of purpose will be the key to the Liberation of our nation. Liberation will give us independence.
Could not agree more about unity of purpose John Brown.
Scotland is caught in the vicious grip of the Anglo Brit establishment who will do whatever it takes to retain it’s colony
Laws and treaties are there to be used or abused as required. Democracy is a sham.
The deep state and it’s tentacles moreover play deep. And make no mistakes they will kill if need be, if all else fails. Lawyer Willie MaCrae being an example but the murder of Irish nationalist lawyers Pat Finucaine and Rosemary Nelson across the water in NI are further examples
Alex Salmonds prosecution was no accident. Nor Craig Murray the many others selected for police and prosecution lawfare.
Britain has a long history of using all of the powers at it’s disposal to retain it’s colonies. Soft, clandestine, or hard brutal the spectrum is all in play
But Britain lost it’s colonies despite all of it’s endeavours. Scotland will follow suit and recognition of the insidious Anglo Brit for what it is, determination and unity of purpose, will see to that.
what the fuck have tou got against cycle lanes or Alba ya feckin Weegie in exile. More fragmentation! Indy dor Indy. No People for Indy which the Yes Movement and Alba is democratic if you bothered to go to an event, for the people ny the people at grassroots level.
You do realise Barrhead only has a ‘Glasgow’ postcode, it is not actually in the dear green place?
I was to attending grassroot events before you were probably born. I would suggest by the end of 1970s early 1980s I had already attended more than you are ever likely to attend in your entire life.
