Donsld Trump is threatening to sue the broadcaster for $5 billion after the British broadcaster admitted it wrongly edited a video of a speech he gave, but insisted there was no legal basis for his claim. They have apologised for this blatant act of dishonesty. However, the POTUS is in no mood to forgive and forget.
Trump’s lawyers had sent the BBC a letter on Monday, accusing it of defaming the US president with the video of the speech before the 2021 US Capitol riot and giving it until Friday to apologise and pay compensation for what they described as “overwhelming reputational and financial harm.”
In an interview with GB News, Trump accused the BBC of misconduct. He said the edit was “impossible to believe” and likened it to election interference. “I made a beautiful statement, and they made it into a not beautiful statement,” he said. “Fake news was a great term, except it’s not strong enough. This is beyond fake, this is corrupt.” Classical Trump rhetoric!
Numerous UK politicians and media propagandists are taking this as an opportunity to stick the boot into the BBC and the Labour Government. Not surprisingly, Nigel Farage, Liz Truss and GB News pygmies are at the forefront of these attacks. It is like watching vultures attacking a not-yet-dead piece of prey.
On the other side, we have the usual suspects, those that benefit from the BBC largesse, defending the Corporation with the usual platitudes. “The BBC is the most trusted news source in the world.”
“I made a beautiful statement, and they made it into a not beautiful statement,” he said. “Fake news was a great term, except it’s not strong enough. This is beyond fake, this is corrupt.”
The opponents of the Labour Government are using this as yet another stick to beat up the floundering UK Government. It comes as no surprise that among those backing Trump against the BBC and Labour Government are the extreme right-wing politicos and journalists. The Torygraph is the leading newspaper to be attacking its own side in an attempt to try and get Labour Party out and extremists Reform Party ensconced as the new right-wing Government in the UK. Tory reject and worst PM ever, Liz Truss is another backing the US President in his threat to sue the BBC.
On the other side, we have the usual suspects that benefit from the largesse of the BBC trying to spin the old favourites, ‘The BBC is the most trusted news source in the world. *Spoiler* It’s not!
One of the worst is Ed Davey, the only person in the UK that jumps on more bandwagons than Nicola Sturgeon. The Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey questioned Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Parliament about President Donald Trump’s threatened lawsuit against the BBC. Davey accused Trump of trying to “destroy our BBC” and undermine press freedom in the UK.
Meanwhile, all those involved in the independence struggles in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland can only look on and think, ‘Mr. Trump, welcome to our world.’ Equally, the same can be said of those that support Jeremy Corbyn. All have had lies made up regarding their words, deeds and actions. When it happened to those above, or any genuine left of centre people, the ones now backing Trump today were silent when the Celts and Corbyn were being lied about and traduced.
Certainly, Ed Davey and all unionists remained silent, and as we pointed out last week, the Spectator ran an article from Tenement scribe Massie extolling the very fact that the BBC operated against the Scottish Nationalists. Now the shoe is on the other foot, it is a different story.
I think it is fair to say that those of us in the Independence movements will shed no tears at the difficulties for the BBC, the propaganda being of the English establishment.
This week, we also heard from a Pro-unionist think tank, that independence supporters were wasting their time trying to find a legal route to independence. No outrage from Ed Davey or any of those suddenly worried about fake news or freedom of speech. Lying about the colonies is permissable, indeed actively encouraged. Distortion and outright manipulation is part of the Westminster armoury against self-determination of the Celtic fringes.
With this, and so many more difficulties for the UK Labour Party it comes as no surprise to see Reform surging ahead in the polls with the Green Party of England in second place. It probably explains the explosion of British Labour Party in Scotland dishonesty on social media that has gone into overdrive. They get away with it because, the same BBC in Scotland never questions the lies of Brits, especially Labour lies.
This week two more victories in the Gender war a moral boost for those that attended biology classes at school. In Scotland, the English Chief Constable announced that from now on the biological sex, of sex offenders will be recorded along with their crime, not their chosen gender!
The Olympic Committee, after commissioning a ‘scientific study’ now realise that you cannot change your sex and that in all future olympiads competitors will need to compete in the category of their sex at birth. One hopes that this Stonewall insanity we have suffered for some years now is finally in total retreat and societycan get back to normal he snd she life.
There are so many more things of far greater importance to mankind than the preferred pronouns of 0.04% of our population! John Swinney could help by hslting the appeal against the Supreme Court clarification of sex as defined in the Equality Act 2010.
These are the main topics our panel of Eva Comrie, Lloyd Quinan, Phil Boswell and Allan Petrie discuss on this week’s Through A Scottish Prism.
