Independents 4 Independence is a grassroots movement committed to ensuring that every pro-independence vote counts.
We aim to gather activists across the country into one formidable group, offering support to genuine pro-independence candidates standing for election.
We hope to be able to deploy “boots on the ground” where they will be most effective in helping us, and the candidates to achieve success in elections. This strategic approach aims to maximise the independence vote and seeks to prevent division, which only benefits unionist parties.
Our mission is simple: A vote for candidates campaigning under our umbrella is a vote for Independence. If enough pro-independence candidates are elected to Holyrood, they would immediately pursue a motion to require the Scottish Government to establish a Constitutional Convention.They would also seek to begin formal independence negotiations.
We require commitments to this effect, and for it to be made plain in the election manifestos prior to deploying on a candidates behalf. Additionally, we will call for the submission of papers to international bodies asserting Scotland’s inalienable right to self-determination.
We are aware of the need, under Holyrood’s voting system, for a mechanism by which regional list votes can be transferred. At this stage we would prefer not to open up the workings to avoid copious amounts of unionist spanners being thrown in.
This is about action, not excuses. We, the people of Scotland, have waited long enough. Most activists are in a self-imposed sabbatical as the parties and votes they have worked for continue to disappoint and pursue agendas other than that which they were elected to achieve. We hope to give them renewed purpose and enthusiasm for one more push. We believe now is the time to Vote for real independence, we aim to play our part in that.
The above all needs to be caveated by saying future achievement can only be realised by a united movement. We will play our part in that process also.

What happens at the “Constitutional Convention” stage?
And, given that sufficient candidates had been elected when a CC was called, what would “negotiations” be about?
Priorities for the interim and independent Scotland
People might struggle to vote for “priorities for the interim and independent Scotland”.
I would certainly need to see an actual plan and process to restore Scotland’s full self-government as part of the election prospectus before I would lend my vote (to any party or candidate).

How the first 50 years of an independent Scotland are shaped will be for those that are resident here to decide. I do not wish to tie their hands and, in any case, it is not possible to define what will be appropriate in future unforeseen circumstances.
I simply don’t wish to elect MSPs for their own sake.
All I am saying is we need a plan. Voting on a promise for ‘something’ undefined is no longer good enough. We’ve had plenty of that these past 10 years.
I want to know that I am voting for candidates/parties that have depicted a clear pathway to achieving what they claim to stand for. That is, they have identified a process that they will follow in order to realise Scotland’s noble cause.
If you do not have a CC and do not do forward planning, what do you think will be the result in the early years of secession? Also a CC is key to unity, and unity is the only way we will attain self-determination.You are not electing MSPs as now fir the bread and butter issues. The statement is quite clear everyone who signs up dies so on tbe strict understanding that they are standing on a single issue Independence!
It us likely that elections would be held very soon after secession. Let us also remember there will be discussions over the secession with RUK again the work of the CC is to ensure there is proper planning and an agreed position on all areas of those discussions.
Yes I get your point about having a CC and future planning, laying down bare bones constitution etc.
But.
The Scottish Parliament as presently constituted does not have the right to declare Independence on the back of an election result. Nor does any other body.
How do you re-purpose the Parliament so that it does have that right?
Perhaps if all parties and candidates included this common approach in their manifesto we could claim that we have democratic remit of Scotland’s highest authority – the people – to assert Scotland’s Parliament rights in all matters relating to the constitution.
Parties and people could stand on re-constituting the Parliament for that purpose, get the endorsement from the people at election time then hold the referendum?
Because ultimately there will have to have an unambiguous single question plebiscite on restoring Scotland’s full self-government so that it is unchallengeable and undeniable expression of the people’s will.
If there is a common, clear and concise plan on which parties and candidates could coalesce you could gain traction – people would likely be engaged and enthused by providing a step by step plan for getting us from where we are now to the end of the Union.
There are only two ways to gain independence.
Through the ballot box or through the barrel of a gun.
Anything else is nonsense.
You win the HR election on a single line manifesto declare UDI and wait on international recognition.
That recognition us vital and is the key to winning our independence.
Therefore the Liberation move internationally while it will not win us independence is a vital piece of the jigsaw to gain international support and recognition.
Nobody however should be under the misaporehension that this action at UN will result in independence,it won’t it needs a confirmation at the ballot box Nay 2026 can be that confirmation.
I never mentioned the “Liberation move” and, in any event, I know it will not win us independence (on it own). I did not advocate using “the barrel of a gun” and I explicitly included using the “ballot box” in the process … twice:
Vote for the Parliament to have constitutional powers in an election.
Gain a majority of representatives.
Call a referendum.
Gain a majority in the plebiscite.
Declare independent statehood.
This all seams Irelevant now as Liberation.scot has taken our Case out of the Uk political Spectrum.

I have been wondering how much benefit there is from even standing at HR. It is increasingly an arm of the UK establishment. Hats off to the SNP, they have done the best job of any government under devolution to mitigate the malign policies from Westminster. Our living standards are falling slower than any other nation in the UK. We should leave them to it. Every independence supporter should get out and vote SNP1 and Green 2 and let them get the best they can out of the UK. They’ll still adopt their gradualist approach to indy so are unlikely to be the force that will get us there. But it s important to keep making the democratic statement.
Meanwhile, I think independents for independence should concentrate on winning over councils at the following years council elections. With a majority of independence supporting councillors in each area, They will then have the autonomy granted to these councils and the planning department, further education and unemployed to start building the infrastructure we require for independence in collaboration with the many organisations targeting specific areas of our future needs.
Alternatively they could vote for 2 Independence Parties. The Greens by their own words”independence is not a red line for Green̈ Party”
Aye, keep voting for the Manchurian candidates who prioritise net-zero, self ID and everything else they can think of over independence. That’ll work.
I think you’re forgetting – THOUSANDS OF WOMEN stopped their direct debits & cancelled their membership to the SNP party. Thousands of women will no longer vote for the party that has stolen their Human Rights off them. BUT they are still INDEPENDENCE supporters and so it behooves us to have an Independence party/Parties or Candidates parties they CAN vote for.
Many people will no longer vote for an SNP party that tried to jail Alex Salmond for life. They have not forgotten & they will not forgive the lies, the deceit, the conniving, the refusing to give up records & evidence that could prove their wrong-doing & their conniving with the judiciary to keep their secrets. The INDY SUPPORTERS that won’t accept criminality need an Independence party or parties or candidates they can choose from.
SNP have not ‘done the best job’ of any government in UK – they’re on equal par with any unionist party at best. SNP under Alex Salmond’s SNP increased our living standards more than any other nation, NOT Sturgeon’s govt. Au contraire, she & her successors have done nothing but waste taxpayers funds with policies that they’ve had to drop, ie bottle banks, Offensive Behaviour Act, Named Persons etc and hopefully GRR Bill will be next. I struggle to think of ANYTHING her govt did to make Scotland any better off and those coming after her have done no better. Voting SNP is voting for a basically Yellow coloured Green Party, with their bike lanes, LEZ’s & SEZ’s & other nonsense that quite frankly we all know is NOT saving on car fumes, etc. It just keeps it out of those streets. To suggest they’ve done ‘the best job’ is simply your idea but doesn’t make it true. And thousands of people now see that party for what they are doing – STILL RIDING ON THE BACK OF ALEX SALMOND’S POLICIES.
Now… the number of INDEPENDENCE supporters that no longer view SNP as an Independence party are in the thousands. You can insist that this broken party is the only party that can make a difference in Scotland till kingdom come, but it won’t make it true & it won’t convince people who know differently. They’re yesterday’s party. It’s time to RETHINK and start supporting parties that do want Independence, that don’t have criminals at their heart & that care about their THOUSANDS of women voters. If you can’t do that, that’s YOUR choice. But the thousands of people, you know – the 80% of people who can no longer be bothered getting off their couches to vote are saying ‘NO THANKS TO SNP’. Should they be ignored & just let them hang about the political edges without someone to vote for? No. I don’t think so. What a waste of votes! We need every single one of those voters & they need people to vote for. I4I is an excellent choice, though I believe ISP is a great party with good solid Independence policies. Whatever, it’s time to leave behind all the unionist parties we have in Holyrood, including SNP & start thinking of ways to move on without them.
PS: And those new parties/Candidates deserve something better than just a seat on the local Council. Quite frankly, unionist parties lead most of them, because it DOESN’T MATTER WHO YOU VOTE FOR. The unionists pull together and they run all the Council shows. My local Council has run as a RAINBOW ALLIANCE for years and years, in spite of SNP people winning almost all the time and we get rainbow policies which no one elected them to put forth! No – how dare you suggest new parties are only worth that kind of political involvement. They must be ready to run as full on Holyrood Politicians, under I4I, ISP or whoever, that people can vote for in the ’26 election.
I dont think there is much awareness of what councils could do. Are councillors lacking the knowledge, or just too risk averse to use borrowing powers, etc that holyrood doesnt have? An obvious area is community owned energy generation.
Well said Katielass you have saved me a mountain of typing and TBQH I think you were quite kind and mannerly to David , how anyone could interpret the open corruption , the gross negligence , the gross incompetence , the deliberate and open threat to the safety of our womenfolk , the despicable and obnoxious appointment of a MAN as head of a RAPE crisis centre where REAL biological women are looking for support and empathy during a TRAUMATIC time, the SPAFFING of hundreds of thousands of pounds on legal costs to protect their REVILED policies whilst our kids and OAP’S suffer the indignity of choosing heating or eating, and very many more REPULSIVE ACTS ,how anyone can view these things as positive actions and worthy of merit baffles me
