William has some gems up his sleeve, my favourite of which – and the one that had me stop rolling the emulsion on my wall and spitting out ‘Aye’ – was when he referred to ‘lancing the boil’.
This past few months has seen me blocked by those I put up on a pedestal, has seen me incredulous by Craig Murray’s revelations re the Salmond trial, then disgusted by the rampant lawlessness of those attempting to prosecute him, and culminating in finally unfollowing a certain cosy MP with a penchant for plush Westminster seating. But of all these events, the one event that has me doubting and lacking inspiration most, is that after all the disgraceful and blindingly obvious corruption of the English parties, Scotland’s party of independence, in its greatest hour of need, aren’t even playing at independence – the former First Minister wouldn’t have tolerated it.
I remain a member of the SNP and still have a flickering faith in Nicola Sturgeon, but whatever festering boil is beneath the facade of the Party needs lancing and the puss let, or Scotland’s going nowhere in our lifetimes.
