It was reported on Sky News on Thursday that the Prime Minister’s Sunday night broadcast was to be pre-recorded. In a break with the norm this address to the nation would not be going out live. Nor would the UK Gov. be using the state broadcaster to film this important speech.Instead, the filming, editing and production would be done in-house by the Tories themselves.This seems an odd time to choose to implement such an innovative concept. The most troubling aspect of this was the pre-recording took place over several days. Rumours abound that it was, even as far back as Thursday when the bulk of this was filmed. The vast majority of the population are still probably none the wiser and believed they were watching the Prime Minister live from Downing Street. Like so much of this government’s actions smoke and mirrors were deployed. The new theme seems to be, Covid19 let’s get it done!

What really troubles me is this.We know the virus is extremely infectious. It can double in cases every three days. We now know for certain that when the UK Prime Minister gave his latest strategy he was not in possession of the most up to date scientific and medical information on the rate of infection in England. While he was telling people to Stay Alert (what does that even mean?) and to return to work on Monday, if safe? What is for sure, he didn’t know if that was the safest thing to do!  We have to assume now that our UK Government are most certainly basing their decisions on ideology, not science!

Rishi Sunak the Chancellor told us a few days ago that soon he was reducing furlough payments from 80% to 60%. This policy with a cost to the public purse of between £3bn and £4bn a week has proved to be a price too great for Tory ideology. Cost is never an issue when it is about bailing out bankers and financiers. Price does not enter the equation when it comes to purchasing new weapons of mass destruction. Wonga is no problem when building a vanity train lines to support the London finance industry. Likewise for Crossrail or Jubilee tube overspends. The price only becomes too great when it is to raise the Living Wage or Pensions, benefits or to protect the people from a deadly virus.These things always have a cost implication attached to them.

We should not be surprised when the Tories are in government in the Union that they prioritise their policies for the elite, not the proletariat. Corporate Socialism they embrace, it is the socialism for the plebs that they hate.

At present Scotland is safe, our First Minister has kept her safety advice consistent and is driven by the scientific and medical evidence only. Over the weekend in England, there were street parties and conga lines to celebrate a conflict that ended before the vast majority of our population were even born. This is the modern day Anglo-British version of Juvenal’s Bread and Circuses to keep the people diverted from reality. Fortunately not being of the blood and soil type nationalists the Scots stayed at home and stayed safe. Over the coming weeks those areas that indulged in ridiculous Anglo-British triumphalism are likely to see spikes in rates of Coronavirus infections and ultimately more deaths. Those that are encouraged every Thursday Night on to The Westminster Bridge to show good old British stiff upper lip in the face of the deadly virus are likewise likely to see their numbers dwindle as people succumb to this most deadly of viruses. These people, who have been encouraged to behave in this manner by a reckless government and ideological media, will pay a heavy price in disease and death. The same government and media will then blame the public for being stupid and spreading the killer disease among themselves. Neither the Government nor the Media will ever accept any responsibility for any part in the huge toll these idiotic actions they encouraged have caused.

When this Coronavirus crisis finally subsides, it will be by vaccine, a drug concoction or sadly by Herd Immunity! This is when the denial and spin will be deployed by the Tory Government. An independent Inquiry will be set up with a limited remit to ensure no Tory, or member of the elite is ever held responsible for the excessive and avoidable death toll. We must never forget or allow them to erase the facts. In early March, Prime Minister Boris Johnson advocated for the UK to take Covid-19 “on the chin” and allow the disease to spread through the population. When there was a public outcry they rowed back or did they? That speech last night would question if by their actions since the UK Government used incompetence and failures of policy to get them to where they always wanted to be, testing the Herd Immunity theory on the people of the British Union.

Today and for a week or so longer the people of Scotland are safe from Johnson’s madness. However, we have to face the reality, Scotland is an English colony. Ultimately we can very easily be forced into accepting the actions the government in England decides. As with Brexit or HS2 or WMD whatever England wants, England gets. All it takes to reopen our economy and schools is for the English Chancellor to cease Furlough Payments and stop funds filtering North to Edinburgh. The Scottish Government does not have the ability to print or borrow money to keep the present sensible policy of Stay Home, Stay Safe in place. Starved of funding we would be left with no choice but to send our kids back to school and our population back to work. We are firmly locked into the Tory ideology, and that is not something that ever is to the benefit of Scotland or its people. I do hope the First Minister has a Plan A, B, C…. because history teaches us this, The English Tory Party can never be trusted to do what is right for Scotland or the Common Weal!
