At a recent Labour Party Deputy Leadership hustings Ian Murray MP said, “Nobody understands Scotland.”It is not often or ever likely again that I agree with anything that man says, this is a one off. What was not added was that nobody in the Londoncentric political or media bubble gets Scotland either. Sadder still The House-Jock Parties in Scotland don’t get their own nation or citizens. They think by adopting the yaboo politics of Westminster they will destroy the SNP and Yes Movement. For centuries now demonising your opponent, be they Whigs, Liberals, Tories or Labour has worked very successfully for the English Parliament. They are so self-obsessed they believe the same tactic will work on the nation colony of Scotland, it hasn’t and it won’t ever!
This is not a unique phenomenon to Scotland/England. The establishments in any Nation, Union or Empire only have two tactics to quell dissent and popular movements against the status quo, demonising or violence. They are also deployed in that order.
When Martin Luther King Jnr. was leading the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s the American white establishment were alarmed and scared. This movement if allowed to go unchecked could one day threaten the White Anglo-Saxon supremacy that has held all the levers of power since the American Revolution in the 18th century. Successive US Presidents had made ‘Vows’ to the African American people which never came to anything. (Sounds familiar huh?) Meanwhile in some southern states disgusting racial prejudices, laws and practices continued unabated. Far away in Washington DC it seemed there was an attitude of best to leave the locals to control the ‘problem’ out of sight, out of mind. There was always something much more important than the civil rights of the American descendants of slavery.
Martin Luther King Jnr threatened this isolationism of the government in the capital. He threatened the white supremacists way of life particularly in those southern states. First they tried to demonise him as some sort of communist agitator. In his 1958 memoir, he reported that although he rejected communism’s central tenets, he was sympathetic to Marx’s critique of capitalism, finding the “gulf between superfluous wealth and abject poverty” that existed in the United States morally wrong. That was enough for the agents of power and wealth to use the ‘Communist’ label against MLK and his movement. In the 1960s this was the biggest scare of all.
The Americans were even more paranoid in the 1950s and 60s about Communism than they are today. They hoped this smearing of Mr King would destroy him and his movement.
This attack on Dr King failed abysmally as did the strongarm tactics against peaceful civil rights demonstrators.
Martin Luther King Jr., was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. To this day there are many that believe the US State were heavily involved in the murder of Martin King. A petty criminal, James Earl Ray was arrested and convicted of his assassination. After several days in custody, he made a full confession. A few days later he attempted to withdraw his guilty plea, claiming he was innocent of King’s assassination and had been set up as a patsy in a larger conspiracy. He claimed that in 1967, a mysterious man named “Raoul” had approached him and recruited him into a gunrunning enterprise. On April 4, 1968, however, he realized that he was to be the fall guy for the King assassination and fled for Canada. Ray’s motion was denied, as were his dozens of other requests for a retrial during the next 29 years. He died in prison on April 23, 1998, still maintaining his innocence.
During the 1990s, the widow and children of Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke publicly in support of Ray and his claims, calling him innocent and speculating about an assassination conspiracy involving the U.S. government and military.
Some even suspected the involvement of the FBI under J Edgar Hoover who obsessed on King believing him to be a Soviet communist.
No matter who was behind this murder the establishment believed if the leader of the movement was gone, the Civil Rights issue would miraculously vanish and the status quo would be secure. Fortunately they were wrong. The Movement was too strong and too morally right even for the might of the USA establishment.

In Ireland in the early part of the last century some Irish Nationalists wearying of constant lies and obsufication by the British Government on Irish Home Rule decided violent insurrection was the only solution left to them.
The Acts of Union in 1800 (ratified in 1801), Ireland (which had been under some form of English control since the 12th century) merged with Great Britain to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. As a result, Ireland lost its parliament in Dublin and was governed by a united parliament from Westminster in London. During the 19th century, groups of Irish nationalists opposed this arrangement in varying degrees. In order to keep recaltirent Irish in line the Anglo-Brits at Westminster kept making promises on some form of home rule for Ireland. The Irish were constantly told they were, too wee, too weak, too stupid and too poor to leave direct rule from Westminster. The leaders of the Irish Nationalist Movement were smeared, demonised and marginalised by their bullying imperial masters and their tame media. To this day the disgusting myth of Irish stupidity remains, especially among British Unionists.
The Easter rising of 1916 lasted a week and at the end of it over 2,000 people lay dead or wounded. The vast majority of these being civilians as British artillery was used to quell the rebels. After the insurrection 90 leaders of the Movement were arrested and sentenced to death in show trial court martials. Fourteen of those that signed The Proclamation of Independence were executed by firing squad. The British were famed for their brutality throughout the world and especially in England’s own backyard. Instead of destroying the Irish Nationalist Movement, this barbaric behaviour by the British Imperialists emboldened and solidified the cause. The ranks of the dissidents swelled and Irish Independence was finely secured in 1921.
Power never seems to learn, especially in US and UK. Today the establishment in the United States is using the Communist smear against the social democratic Sen Bernie Sanders in his bid to become POTUS.
In the UK the Anglo-British political class and media are affronted that in ‘independent Ireland,’ the people gave an election victory to Sinn Féin.
Meanwhile in Scotland , not having learnt any lessons over the past centuries, the Anglo-British Government in London is deploying the same failed tactics they have used throughout their now gone empire.
They have been trying for decades to destroy the Scottish Independence Movement and The SNP in particular. They smeared the SNP leader Arthur Donaldson, who led the SNP from 1941 to 1949 with claims that he conspired to set up a Vichy-style regime with himself as leader of Scotland if Nazi Germany won the war. This was later proved to be nothing more than dirty tricks by the British Government. The flames of self-determination were beginning to flicker in Scotland with the victory of Winnie Ewing at Hamilton in Nov. 1967. The British state leaked their story about Donaldson around this time, coincidence, of course!
Every SNP Leader has been subjected to whispering campaigns and smears by the British State. Their corrupt media in Scotland has always been a willing mouthpiece for the imperialists of London. We all witness the daily attacks on our elected representatives by the dead tree press and broadcasters. We also boycott their newspapers and cancel our licences for their TV Propaganda. It seems our media do not learn either.
This smears and demonising has increased in intensity since the Independence Referendum of 2014. That outcome although in favour of the status quo was a warning to the British state that independence was inevitable. Everything they have done since has been a sign of their desperation to try and find some magic bullet to defeat the YES Movement. They have attacked our leaders in the most virulent fashion. They have used the state apparatus to monitor and spy upon elected officials and ordinary citizens. The tame and corrupt media have slandered and harassed members of the public for just supporting the idea of Scottish Independence.
Let me say this to the Anglo-British Imperialists, their tame corrupt media and their puppet parties in Scotland. You can smear our leaders, call them Nazi sympathisers, try to imprison our ex-leaders, try to defame our present leaders. You can call our supporters Cybernats, Cyberrats, indeed call us Cyberbrats if you like, you will never defeat us or stop us. You may think you can stop a movement by bringing down a leader here or there. You are wrong. We will just appoint new leaders and keep going. We will never stop until we reach our goal. The reinstatement of Scotland as an independent nation of the world is our final destination.Nothing will prevent us attaining this outcome. The sooner you realise this reality the easier it will be for everyone in this failed and broken Union.
Finally let me repeat a quote I heard delivered in the campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders. It applies equally to the Anglo-British Imperialists in London.
We are stronger, and we will not wait any longer!
Saor Alba gu brath.

This is a great insight into the U.K. skullduggery. They will continue until we beat them and beat them we must.
Keep up the good work.
Are those the correct dates for Arthur Donaldson’s tenure on SNP?
Thought it was at start of WW2?
Apologies if I am incorrect.
No should be 41 to 49
Excellent, enjoyed both the history lesson and the passion.
Great work, Roddie.
