Home Comforts.

Taking the famous words of Peter, Paul & Mary, ‘All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go….’

The suitcase is full of warm clothes and my Saltire.

Here in Catalonia it is still shorts and T-shirt weather in the mid 20-26C range.

I have become a southern softie the weather I am flying into will be different from what I am now used to!

I won’t be using a taxi, instead I will drive to my local train station, then an airplane and home to Scotland.

I have been an immigrant here in Catalonia since December 2015.

I have a wonderful home, wife and life.

Friends that visit me tell me, I am living the dream.

I cannot deny that life here, especially the climate suits me just fine.

I have the most gorgeous villa atop a hill that looks down on to The Mediterranean Sea.

I have 700sq.metres of grounds filled with lemon, orange, pomegranate, almond and olive trees.

My garden has fertile soil and throughout the year I grow assorted vegetables, especially a bumper crop of tomatoes and peppers in the hot summer months.

We go to the local farmers market where the seasons are marked by whichever fruit has naturally ripened.

Right now the time for peaches has just passed the prominent fruits are pears and pomegranate.

The peaches this year were a particular delight and when only 99cents a kilo you can afford to indulge yourself.

It reminds me of when I was a child growing up in Scotland certain fruits were only available at certain times of the year.

Nowadays with modern farming methods it seems you can get any fruit on any given day.

I remember that clementines were a December fruit and on Christmas morning it was part of the small bounty left by Santa Claus.

I truly cannot remember them being available in Scotland in Spring or summer.

It is not just nostalgia that makes me think that this is neither good for the taste of the fruit or good for the environment.

I have my own swimming pool, 8km of flat sandy beaches are just a short walk down the hill from the villa.

Local wine is €1.20 a litre, a Bottle of Gordon’s is €8.30.

There are bars, restaurants and cafes galore where food and beverages are aplenty, varied and inexpensive.

What’s not to like?

The answer, of course, is nothing!

I enjoy life here it suits my health, it is a relaxing environment however it is not home.

I was talking to a neighbour and when I said I was going home later this week he suggested I was home.

I tried to explain to him that while I loved life here it could never be ‘home.’

Neither my Spanish nor his comprehension of English enabled me to explain what to him was a contradiction.

I cannot speak for other nationalities or races however there is something about us Scots that keeps a strong attachment to our country of birth.

This is not a superiority thing it is a belonging thing, an emotional attachment.

When I step off that plane at Prestwick an immediate feeling of well being envelopes me.

I don’t quite go like the Polish Pope and kiss the tarmac however every breath of air just seems better, familiar, welcoming.

Unless you have been away a while from Scotland I think it is hard to explain just how great it feels to come home.

I will be in Scotland less than a week, this is my first time home since the Glasgow AUOB March in May.

I get a buzz from being home in familiar surroundings where I know the streets, shops, bars and people.

It re-energises and invigorates me and reminds me just how much I appreciate that Scotland is my anchor.

I enjoy speaking at normal pace and not like Forest Gump nor having to repeat myself to be understood.

It is a joy to once again be able use colloquialisms, slang and one liners.

I only have a few days in which to get a Special Fish Supper with 2 Pickles of course, a decent Curry a Chinese, a Morton’s Roll with Square Sausage, Tottie Scone and Egg.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Several pints of palate cleansing Tennents lager in my favourite pub, chewing the fat with the Barrhead posse.

(PS. I am not really interested in all you ‘special people’ who feel the need to slag of the local brew.

Honest I do not care a jot about your likes, this is all about me!😁😁😁😁)

I will spend time with our dearest friends in Barrhead who always have us stay with them on our trips home.

We will all go through to Edinburgh on Saturday to join the throng of patriots ambling through the streets of that beautiful city.

We Scottish Yessers are coming together to remind the liars and deniers that the clock is ticking down on the British Union.

Our corrupt media will ignore this gathering of Scots which is being rumoured to amount to possibly 200,000 strong.

No matter the actual number it will be played down and the March treated as an oddity rather than a democratic, joyous outpouring by law abiding citizens.

Perhaps if we marched passed an Anglican Church and assaulted the Vicar we might get some media coverage!

Those that are in the Fourth Estate and meant to be the voice of the people have regrettably with a few notable exceptions always been the voice of the establishment, not the masses.

They accept payment from offshore tax avoiding press barons to ignore and trash over 50% of their neighbours and fellow countrymen.

They distort and make up stories about the independence movement and report every negative aspect they can find or fabricate while turning a blind eye to anything that might show the Union in a bad light.

They and the entire might of the British State have been deployed against Scotland’s Independence Movement.

Saturday will confirm the Union is losing that contest for Scottish hearts and minds.

The media try and portray the movement as English hating, blood and soil nationalists with fascist tendencies.

The Union is so great they cannot keep it intact with true facts and positive stories they need to use lies and distortions.

The British Union is so great for Scotland that nobody has ever managed to articulate a positive case for the continuance off the UK.

Instead, they resort to subterfuge, lies and corruption to keep London’s heel on the Scottish throat.

Britnats and House-Jocks are for ever saying they receive loads of abuse from the vile cybernats, funnily enough they are never, ever able to produce any evidence to back up these smears.

We know that illegal #darkmoney has been deployed to fund unionist cybertrolls that attempt to disrupt and abuse independence supporters.

The entire Cambridge Analytica event exposed the lengths and depths of British corruption deployed to destroy democracy throughout the political construct called the UK.

We have multiple accounts being operated by unionist trolls some pretending to be women, men ordinary citizens, pensioners, students, Rangers supporters, Celtic Supporters, LGBT, anyone, anything and everything and then spreading poison.

In the last few days it has been brought to our attention that a member of 77Brigade the British Army Physco Digital warfare Corps is employed by Twitter as their head of EMEA operations.

There is no low, too low for the British State.

One I have found particularly vile affects my other great passion, RangersFC.

Even I cannot deny that there is an element among my fellow supporters that is on the extreme edges of British Unionism.

They are a very virulent right-wing, anti-Scottish,anti-Catholic, anti- democracy intolerant types of specimens.

The British State know this too and many of their trolls sent into cyberspace to cause division pretend to be Rangers fans.

I have caught a few out by asking previous names of subway stations or pubs around Ibrox, street names is another ‘bear trap.’😁😁.

They get found out very quickly and then vanish, unfortunately many of our side believe them to be real Rangers fans and the division is kept in place.

It is inconceivable that if there was someone in the Yes ranks like McConnachie of Manky Shirt fame that they would not have by now been hounded and demonised by the media.

This is an extreme right-winger that is a Holocaust denier his views were too extreme even for UKIP.

This is public knowledge yet the foreign owned MSM and the Broadcasters in Scotland give this person a free pass.

Manky Shirt will be there in Edinburgh on Saturday spewing his hate and lies as the peaceful marchers parade by him and his entourage of bigots and fascists.

These compatriots of Manky Shirt are likewise free of scrutiny by the complicit media because they are on the British Union side.

What does it say about this Union that the so called democratic guardians are happy to hide behind a fascist holocaust denier and a troop of bigots?

We saw on the Glasgow AUOB that his hate filled mob are the thickest of the thick that bring their Rangers Are British nonsense to their politics.

One particular vile ‘granny’ we can all remember screaming Rangers! Rangers! as we filed past.

She and others got very upset when several Yes marchers passed them wearing Rangers tops, scarves and hats.

The look of horror on that woman’s face was a joy to behold as the realisation set in.

That is one of the many reasons that this Saturday I will once again proudly march under the Rangers Fans for Independence Banner.

We YESSERS are All Under One Banner and I shall be under that particular one.

The closer we get to the Britnat Bigots and Union Flags the more my chest will puff out, the straighter my posture will become.

I am proud to march with Scots old and new with people of all shades and colours, of all religions and none of all sexual preferences.

We are all marching for Scotland’s democracy, we are united and no Media or British bigot will divide us.

Many people think football shouldn’t be brought into politics and they are right.

Unfortunately it is one of the many things the British State has successfully used to divide and rule our people.

More and more of my fellow Rangers fans are making their feelings known.

Our March on Saturday is to encourage more of them to ‘come out’ we want to show that believing in Scotland and independence is compatible with being a Rangers fan on a Saturday.

The two things should be unrelated, unfortunately some rather nasty people try to make being a real Rangers Supporter mean you have to be disloyal to your own country of birth and people.

You have to revere a Germanic Monarchy and embrace being ruled from another nation.

You are supposed to hate one section of society because they practise a certain strand of Christianity.

Many like me reject that notion so when this particular group of Rangers Fans are having a walk behind a band on Saturday there will be no flutes just pipes and drums no hatred, or exclusion only joy and smiles.

Give us all a wave if you see us and if any other football fans from any team care to join us with their colours on you will be most welcome.

To the fans marching under the banner look out for it at the duck pond outside Holyrood be there well before 1pm..

See you then!

  • Look out a few extra beds, me and a couple of million of my fellow countrymen are coming to live with you!

  • That is powerful pic – the Rangers for Yes flag. Can you post it as public on fb or to me on fb messenger? It should be seen widely. Thanks. I dont do twitter.

  • Widn’y swap places wi ye! I love Fife, I love my walks though the countryside, nowhere is more beautiful in ma books. Not enormous beauty with spectacular vistas, but the cosy green rolling hills. Hame.

  • We spent three months in Catalonia (Calella de Mar) at the start of the year and I loved it, but I missed the green of Scotland. However, that wouldn’t stop me from doing what you’ve done as Catalonia has a special place in my heart. If I see you on Saturday I’ll say Bon Dia!

  • I have notice a very small and subtle change in the Ibrox fans recently.

There are a few saltires popping up at games and a few less butchers aprons. Don’t get me wrong. There is a long way to go and there are still vast swathes of them waiving some distasteful flags. I say this as a Partick fan observing from afar.

I long for the day when I can support Rangers in Europe as a Scottish team , as I do all the others. However they bring embarrassment to me when they rampage around Europe with Union flags and singing the Bomber song. We Scots are different , but they seem to want to behave like the worst elements of English football bigots.

I feel your pain in being a supporter. I know I couldn’t support Partick if our fans behaved like this.

      • My Grandad Bert Bruce took me tae Bayview Park, Methil as a bairn. He was a big East Fife supporter with three daughters.
        I’ve been a non-fan o fitba ever since!

  • True.
Me west of Scotland catholic. ( lapsed).

I should be a natural Celtic fan. However my dad and his dad were Maryhill men. Its in my DNA to support Thistle.
