Double Standards.

Another eventful week in Scottish politics. The Holyrood election campaign is in full swing. The Alliance to Liberate Scotland remarkably declared 40 Regional List candidates for May 7th. Their single policy of Independence Nothing Else, Independence Nothing less seems to be resonating with the voting public. This would explain why the pygmies in the independence fold along with the unionists are trying to make up new smears against the Alliance on a daily basis.

The Unionist parties are all running on a campaign slogan of, “Vote for us to beat the SNP.”  No ambition or vision for Scottish voters, just negative campaigning and lies. Sadly, the SNP chose this week to join in the dishonesty campaigning with John Swinney announcing, Vote SNP 1-2 to defeat Reform. Everyone, including John Swinney, knows this to be a flat-out lie. The exact opposite is the reality. The polling shows that the SNP are likely to win most constituency seats thereby, just like 2021, rendering the list votes for the SNP to in fact become list votes for unionist candidates!

If you are an SNP supporter the smart thing to do on May 7th is to vote SNP in the constituency and then vote for Alliance to Liberate Scotland on the regional list. That way we can attain a supermajority and cut out Westminster from any say on the Scottish constitutional question. That is the prize within the grasp of all Scottish voters.

Our panel this week of Phil Boswell and Eva Comrie were joined by David McHutchon, ex-leader of Sovereignty, and Gordon Ross, of Indie-car fame, and the Alliance To Liberate Scotland regional candidate in the West of Scotland regional seat.

They chewed over the statement of John Swinney and several other topics.

One news story of the week that particularly resonated with our panel was the whining of the Green Party over the Electoral Commission allowing an extreme unionist party to call itself The Independent Green Voice Party. It seems that the EC has a different set of rules on party names when it comes to those parties that support the union.

Also announced this week was the terrible news for Cornwall when Skybus cancelled all their London flights due to the scarcity and cost of aviation fuel. This is a result of the closure of the Grangemouth refinery where aviation fuel was the main refined product. After allowing this plant to close our English imperial government chose to get supply from the Persian Gulf nations instead. Now the aviation fuel tankers sit idly in the Straits of Hormuz.

In a further kick in the teeth, we heard of the situation in Asda Grangemouth that had to close their petrol station as supplies had failed to materialise from England!

In a further irony the Tory Party is demanding that the UK Government drill more oil wells in Scottish waters immediately. Their logic is why have an energy-rich colony in the north and then not exploit it to the maximum!

With these events alone, it beggars belief that any self-respecting Scot can still give their support to the parties of English hegemon!

  • It galls me to hear the main unionist parties talking about North Sea oil and gas as ‘Britain’s’ and seem to remember how it was all just about to run out when they were telling us ten years ago we were ‘better together’…ten years on.. it’s a life line to stop as much dependency on foreign suppliers. Rachel Reeves a week or so ago in her economic statement spoke of ‘our’ renewables being enough to provide electricity for…and she named 3 or 4 Southern English counties!!! Not Scotland.
Yet I’ve heard no bite back from the SNP about these comments. They really should be making much noise about this but I don’t even hear a whimper. I’m glad that ALS are vocal about this and many of the other open goals the SNP don’t take shots at. You will be getting my list vote with pleasure and the SNP will get my 1st vote with nose held and bitten tongue!

  • I simply cannot bring myself to vote SNP for my first vote, never mind my list vote.

Their dishonesty is actually worse than that of unionist parties; at least they do what they say on the tin. They don’t pretend to be pro-independence, then take us backwards like the SNP. The final insult came with the both votes fiasco, which has been proven twice not to work, once in 2016, then again in 2021, over 2 million votes wasted to gain 6 MSPs, and now they want us to do exactly the same for the third time.

Sorry, but Independence, nothing else will be getting my list vote, and if there is no Independence candidate for my constituency vote, it’ll be a spoiled paper.

  • I noticed BBC Israel, has been full on last week
Interviewing offord and Faragein Scotland .
Yet I haven’t heard , ISp, or Alliance or anyone else who is for Scottish Independence.
Even the national paper , is full on farage.

  • The Engerlish treat Scotland like the boiled frog scenario.
Instead of killing us , by throwing us straight into boiling water
They put us in cold water and heat the water up

    • The UK is trouble, big trouble. Its economy is on the slide big time. Moreover, unlike Scotland it is not endowed with huge national resources.

Oil and gas, hydro and now wind we know about. But land and space to. A place to bury nuclear waste. A place to situate nuclear weapons away from London. A place to test weapons. A place to have non nuclear bases and other military installations. A land endowed with sea resources. Fish farming owned not by the Scot and now growing at an exponential rate being another example. And yes, there is huge protein sea farming in the wings. Or aggregates, yes Scotland has. How many know of Glen Sanda quarry that has now exported over a billion tonnes of rock. Hidden from view, save for west coast shipping it has exported aggregate all over world. Or forestry or farming. Who owns that as small farms now through inheritance tax are being scooped up by the corporates.

Ah the Scot, like the American Indian heading to extinction in his own land

  • Near the end of the show Eva mentions a Human Rights Watch story.

Phil, if you could post a link to the Alistair McConnachie “defenders of the faith” video that you mentioned, that would be great.

  • I worry that we might not be around to vote at all! With friends like the UK has who needs……

May I recommend a song for Scotland? It’s called Scotland the Free – written by a friend 60 years ago , rediscovered and given to a musically talented young lady to present. Anyone interested in a song for Scotland’s freedom can find it on youtube music – if you like it pass it on!!
I seem to remember a singing revolution took place in Estonia , maybe it could work for Scotland because I sure as hell don’t like the ‘friends ‘ Westminster insists on keeping.

  • Scottish oil and gas, Scotland’s hydro power, its new found wind energy being developed at breakneck speed, but what benefit to Scotland.

One would think on these energy stressed times folks in Scotland would think about how energy endowed Scotland is and where the benefit goes.

Baubles and glass beads perchance as the Scot heads to.the fate of the American Indian.

Maybe don’t need to plead this here to readers of this blog but are we headed the way of the Indian.
